Beto is an honest trier as a striker and his attitude cannot be faulted, but he falls short of the class Everton require to turn the creation of Grealish and Ndiaye into consistent end product.

Summer? Will probably need in January to push on if anywhere near Top 6. Surely there must also be better "Free Agent" strikers in Europe better than Beto and Barry short term for not to high a price.

Where about are you from?: I am an expat Brit living in California.

How did you become an Evertonian?: Both my Granddad and Uncle were Everton season ticket holders, unfortunately my Dad never got the bug but thankfully he did take me to see the parade after we won the FA cup in 1984 and at that point I was chosen even if I didn’t really know it yet. Everton was my school girl crush but tbh it probably had more to do with how good Gary Lineker’s legs looked in those 80’s shorts than our performance on the pitch.

Real life issues such as career and marriage moved my focus off...

If we'd prioritised a world class number 9 we wouldn't have got the class midfield we have now. We'd have a great player isolated up top with nobody to give him the ball, and we'd be leaking more goals because we wouldn't be able to keep the ball. We also wouldn't attract a class striker with a bit part midfield. It's going to take time and for now Beto is more than fine, but he will have bad days, just have to keep backing him as he will score goals.

Yeah kinda this, he is what he is. Sometimes it’ll work (typically away from home or at home against sides that play high - Villa sat deep today), sometimes he’ll look like a 6’4 Portuguese Beckford.

Telling we've not truly signed anyone of that calibre since. Niasse, DCL, Maupay, Kean, Beto, Josh King (loan), Enter Valencia (loan), Thezza...

Hard to replace someone genuinely good.
