2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

The true is other
He ( or his agent) did something wrong. Accept a low and short contract . That means sabotage his self validation.
He want to play and feels comfortable with the team, he want to take a chance with his NTnas well, but accepting this cause less consideration by Moyes and even by the fans.

I think he will win him over imo looks like wants to learn and is prob moyes wanting to work more on his game. Making sure he keeps the team shape when need defensively. Still think as the season goes on we will see more of players like alcaraz dibbling even rohl.
I think that’s probably it exactly. Alcaraz output in front of goal was better than Doucoure last season as well but Moyes always played Doicoure when available for exactly that reason. Worked incredibly hard off the ball, presses in shape, good out of possession basically and he see’s the same in KDH. Values that side of the game in a player.

Hope you’re right, like Alcaraz.

Yeah that’s why I said Moyes doesn’t look sold on him and doesn’t sound sold on him. I don’t think that necessarily means he’s a write off though, it’ll depend what he does when he gets his chances, which he will.

Moyes does this with players if he sees something he doesn’t fancy. Witness playing a centre midfield of John Heitinga and Phil Jagielka when we were down to bare bones instead of giving a young Ross Barkley a chance. Refusing to give a young Coleman game time even when an aging Phil Neville was terrible. Moyes’ mind can be changed but agree there’s obviously something g Moyes sees that means he doesn’t want to start him.

A sale is a definite possibility but it’s not a forgone conclusion. There’s a lot of season left to play.
But his background isn’t Ross Barkley’s or Seamus Coleman’s. He has options those players didn’t have and he will use them.

There’s not a lot of season for him. If he’s not playing significantly more come December, which is like 8 PL games away, he will start to evaluate his options.

This is also poor management fwiw

Not really, it’s just what attributes a manager places emphasis on. That might not be what you or I place emphasis on in that position but it is for Moyes. He’s always been the same going back to Tim Cahill. Not a creative player but could pop up with a goal and worked very hard out of possession for the team. You might not like it but it’s just his style and preference. The opposite of a Roberto Martinez, for example. Just what attributes you value in positions and in your team.

We’ve looked good this season in the main so can’t really criticise Moyes for keeping that front three the same. We’ll see how the season plays out for Alcaraz and as I said, I agree with you, if he’s sat on the bench for most of the season there’s a chance he’ll go in the summer. There’s still a lot of season left though so let’s just see.

There are two different things. If it’s positioning that’s the difference that is on Moyes and not coaching his players well enough.

If it’s work rate that’s also bad because it’s an attacking position but a little more understandable. The problem if it’s work rate is he’s wrong in his player evaluation.

Obviously positional sense and defensive awareness, when to press, where to be off the ball etc is something that can be coached and improved with game time and experience. It’s not something that happens overnight though.

With Alcaraz, I rate him but you can see the side of his game he needs to work on is out of possession. A coach like Roberto Martinez doesn’t care so much about that for his central attacking midfielder it’s more about what they can do with the ball - I tend to think similar. Moyes does care about that though, he wants a solid shape out of possession, particularly through the middle of the pitch, always has.

Pre season game in Scotland, can’t remember who it was against, all you could hear was Moyes screaming at Alcaraz where to be without the ball. Rightly or wrongly, just don’t think he trusts him fully but I do think he’ll get his chances this season.

I just don’t see where the chances are if he’s not even participating in a game that we didn’t score in and were on top in. He’ll be top notch at Lazio though.
