2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

He’s fine as a squad player, but that’s about it. Unless he can raise his level he isn’t going to win a place.
We’ve handed the place to someone who isn’t clearly better and is clearly the peak of what he’ll ever be.

So yeah, loan in January, gone in the summer.

He’s not Lookman level good, but it’s the same thing.

Doesn’t matter. It was the game changing moment.

Comparing Charly to Steven Gerrard is rather hyperbolic.

Its utter madness to blame an attacking midfielder as if he gave a goal away. For losing the ball with multiple players behind him its such a massive stretch.

Could say KDH has had 1/2 of a very good game all season and not much else.

They're going to happen, every player will make mistakes. Grealish gave the ball away cheaply in our own defensive third today, for example, and only Villa's profligacy meant we didn't concede. Should Grealish be forever in purgatory or should he have been if Villa took advantage? Of course not, that would be a very silly suggestion. As it happens, I don't think Alcaraz should be in the team ahead of Grealish, N'Diaye or KDH but to say one mistake in one game means he should be exiled is just dumb.

True, but I just don’t think Alcaraz had done anything to warrant a start. The team looks better without him.

I’d love him to prove me wrong, but I just don’t see it yet. He’s good to have around and still has plenty of time to earn a spot.

A different challenge to the defence.
Yeah i do think or hope in time he will use the bench more i kno dibbling has been away with the u21. So can understand it rohl also showed a few nice touches and tackles today. I just think would be good to change players in the game go to a mid 3 today of gana rohl and alcaraz. Thought kdh was ok today just alcaraz wouod have been a good sub today

That’s already happened and Moyes bought another #10 instead
Yeah that’s why I said Moyes doesn’t look sold on him and doesn’t sound sold on him. I don’t think that necessarily means he’s a write off though, it’ll depend what he does when he gets his chances, which he will.

Moyes does this with players if he sees something he doesn’t fancy. Witness playing a centre midfield of John Heitinga and Phil Jagielka when we were down to bare bones instead of giving a young Ross Barkley a chance. Refusing to give a young Coleman game time even when an aging Phil Neville was terrible. Moyes’ mind can be changed but agree there’s obviously something g Moyes sees that means he doesn’t want to start him.

A sale is a definite possibility but it’s not a forgone conclusion. There’s a lot of season left to play.

I think he will win him over imo looks like wants to learn and is prob moyes wanting to work more on his game. Making sure he keeps the team shape when need defensively. Still think as the season goes on we will see more of players like alcaraz dibbling even rohl.
