New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Good listen that. I know Dave hates him, but Dave hates everything and everyone so I suppose that's no qualifier, but I'm really glad that Meis designed the stadium. I like how thoughtful and invested he is in the building as not just a structure but as a community asset and as a social space. I didn't know about him losing his home to the LA wildfires as well, that's a real sickener for him.
I dont hate him. I just think he bought into the sentimental mush of a handful of 'heritage' fans who got in his head and told him that cramming as much of Goodison's iconography into the the new stadium and around its exterior was the wisest thing to do.

He's a designer/architect and had a blank canvas to work with but chose not to fully do that.

The roof of the new stadium is what gets him out of trouble, IMO. Just.

Basically though, he was weak and was mugged off by the tragical history tour bores who think they're better than other fans and the carrier of the torch of the club. They most definitely are not.

Just had to post this honestly on another planet some of the rs fans. Will agree would have loved stay at goodison because of the history. But the new stadium is just a massive wow everytime you go to it, and is something anfield will never be as you can only do so much becuase of the foundations. Really hope we can keep pushing to get the max out of the stadium making sure all tickets sold, looking to increase the capacity, get more things around the ground bars would even love a small museum or something to show some of the history of the club.

Some people would have us playing on Stanley Park Car park to retain 'purity'.

Move on. It's what we as a club have done: Stanley Park to Cruitt's Field to Anfield to Goodison to Bramely Moore Dock.

We built this city.

Have just finished watching that and came here to post, but you beat me to it!

I really like Dan. There wasn’t a great deal new in that, but I just really enjoy hearing the man talk about the stadium and Everton.
Dan's a proper designer - invested himself completely in this, almost to a fault. He has emotionally invested in this and it's basically taken 10 years of his career and life.

I'm glad a man of his conviction was behind this.

Had to laugh about the bit he says Liverpool are still in their spiritual home. They drove a lot of local people out of their homes just to expand their own foot print. That was something that we decided was not worth doing to folks who live next to Goodison and prompted us t look for a new home.
