6 + 2 Point Deductions

The basic position is this. We were done for financial mismanagement. That's the truth - there were rules and we breached them. We can argue about the sanction or what the PL asked for but they are fundamental facts.

If any team is found to have deliberately mislead however that has to be more serious.

It cannot be right that a change of management means that there is no sporting sanction. The argument that it would result in no self-reporting is flawed. It assumes that Directors who pass the Fit and Proper test are not Fit and Proper as otherwise they would self-report. What would stop any club from immediately changing management on discovery of issues so as to avoid a sporting sanction.

I think that it is safe to assume that Chelsea, having self-reported, felt that there is a case or even a partial case to answer. What will not be raised in any sanctions hearing is that at Chelsea the culture may have changed since their takeover, but no one can doubt that their current management has flown close to the wind. Pushing the boundaries on contract lengths and on inter company sales.

I assume that they may jump to a sanctions hearing and if so that will give a better idea of the possible sanctions in the Man City case if they (Man City) were found to be liable.

Imagine we had gone done from one of those deductions....then this come out
I try not to think about that. As bad as it was, we have new owners, a new stadium and a better team. We will have more leverage in the next points deduction scandal. I'm sure the Friedkin's have taken note of the whole debacle and will be prepared for any more shenanigans from the league.
