Beeb noticing Everton…..veiled hit piece or genuine reporting….

It's going to take a long, long time of continual improvements before we get much air time from the media.
I listen to talksport a lot during the day, driving along. It's always the same clubs that take up 80% of talk time. Whole hours just on united sacking the tea ladies, or spurs getting rid of Daniel levy. Does my head in generally, but I've come to expect it.

Hit piece. All of our spending doesn’t even constitute 75% of 1 Liverpool signing. And doesn’t mention that we’ve spent the least over the past 5(?) seasons with negative net spends.
Its in no way a hit piece 😂 it just touched upon what has transpired this summer with no critical narrative, that we've spent the most we've had in the history of the club netspend wise as we had to embark on a major squad overhaul. There's nothing in the article would be deemed an attack on the club in my opinion

I thought it would be a 'hit' piece based on the title.

But the article is blunt with this;

Everton have signed nine players at a net cost of £97m (based on initial fees), their highest net outlay in a summer transfer window and more than they had spent over the previous seven seasons combined (£71m).

The figure of £97m far surpasses any season in the club's Premier League history, with the potential for further arrivals in the January window.

... Neutrals will read that and be surprised how little we've spent, considering the incorrect backdrop of "Everton point deduction because spent too much"

I am actually surprised we have never spent £100m in a window before. Sunderland, for example, have just spent around £120m net and they've been outside the Premier League for ages.

£97m is absolutely nothing nowadays, especially when players like Elanga and Wissa are going for £60m / £55m respectively.
It highlights how even though we were seen as 'spending a lot of money' over the Moshiri years, it wasent as much as others during that time.

Mental how we got punished for building a stadium

Powder puff piece. An article to touch on the club very generally, means they can do similar with another club or two then go back to fopping and fawning over those they worship the other 90% of the time. Also not a word in there about Goodison kept on and gifted to the ladies side, who have started the season well. No mention of the new ground being a catalyst for the derelict dock lands on the river and being transformational for the city and area as a whole. The season is 3 games old, it's probably to early to be proclaiming successful summers and celebrating club turn arounds.

I can see both sides here, I think the article is a little condescending. Nothing to get too worked up about, but again not entirely balanced because it doesn't mention how thin the squad was to start with.
Yes it does! 'The biggest challenge facing Everton this summer was how best to overhaul a threadbare squad following the departure of nine senior players, including first-team regulars Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jack Harrison and Ashley Young'. Has anyone actually read this thing before they came on crying about it?!
