Mark Volman has died.
The singer and co-founder of The Turtles, who were best known for their 1967 single Happy Together, passed away on Friday at the age of 78 following a "brief, unexpected illness", his representative has confirmed.
Mark had been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2020 but continued to tour and only publicly revealed his diagnosis in 2023.

Saw the Rick version of the band at the liverpool summer pops tent (remember that) about 2003ish.
Great band then even without Roger Hodgson. Obviously never played dreamer.

Always preferred Hodgson’s voice. ‘Fools overture’ live on the Paris album was amazing.

Even in the quietest moments and Fools overture - was their pinnacle to me.
Breakfast in America was very good in its own way, but pure FM radio fodder.
After Hodgson left they were never the same band.
