2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

I’ll be going out of my way to correct people’s pronunciation after this

Not happy that he played the full 90...he is becoming a crucial player for senegal, and with all the qualifiers, the afcon in December and the world cup next summer, he is going to play a lot of football which 1. Increases risk of injury, and fatigue and 2. If he continues as he is, we may receive offers for him next summer that we wouldn't be able to reject...he was a 40 millions player this summer...he could be double that next summer...

Yep, and for what? Going out in the group stages of every one out of five international tournaments. Does anybody even care about international football any more? I mean, apart from the motorway and mini roundabout flag crews.

the tournaments are great, euro 24 and world cup 22 were both brilliant to watch

the amount of games required to get there is too much and most of the games arent even competitive for the big nations

this will sound elitist and would probably set a dangerous precedent for the rest of the game but my thoughts would be to rake over the tournament placings from the past say 8 years (or two editions of each tournament) and then essentially give a bye to the top ranking sides, then leave a percentage of places for lower ranking sides to play a handful of games to fight for their places over, maybe even do this in a short space of time to create mini tournaments that would be more exciting and reduce the disruptions to fixtures

the already qualified sides could then do their nations league style games here to test players out and help decide on selection for tournaments, implement tactics etc

make it rare so not only might it become actually exciting but so it’s reducing injuries, disruptions to season and less meaningless games. norway won 11-1 last night. what is the point

He’s also done the rounds abit so might, for the right money, feel settled here.
That said, we will also need to be threatening to win something and / or start challenging for the CL berths.
