Watches

Alright watch experts, it’s my 50th birthday next month and I’ve decided I’m going to treat myself to a nice watch to mark the occasion…. Trouble is I am clueless about watches. I’ve been doing a bit of searching for different styles etc and have decided I’d like a nice, eye catching dressy watch…. I have however decided I’m not really a fan of Breitling, undoubtedly they are a very good watch but, and this is just personal preference, they all seem to a little bit too busy on the face. Any suggestions or pointers I should be looking out for ? I don’t want to be spending thousands of pounds but I don’t mind a decent outlay for something special.

IWC has some stunning classy dress watches, can be pricey but are stunning.

Grand Seiko too, can get decent re-sale watched.

Christopher ward is always a good shout....they have just released a new verison fo the Twelve, ultra thin.

Frederique Constant do some stunners for a lot less than the first 2. I like the Heartbeat.

Forgot Hamilton.
Have a gander at these….particularly the Khaki Field ‘Murph’ used in the movie Interstellar.

Ordered one of these today, new with tags from Ebay for a fraction of the price here...

I’ve looked a a few timex watches seen some really lovely ones.

One of the good things about an interest in watches is that there is such a variety for all different tastes, and as long as we're not hung up on the 'brand' there are plenty of good looking watches out there.
That’s very true, I never criticise anyone’s taste in anything, we have to many beer snobs, food snobs and fashion snobs,

Yep, I simply love these little gadgets and I don't care about the price/prestige (though, by all accounts I own--and am lucky to own--some decent brands).

Come across a new micro brand, well new to me....Furlan Marri - absolutely stunning.

I recently read about those as well last week. Some very nice stuff, and I quite like them! On another forum, people were also talking about this Italian microbrand (another one I had never heard of)

They've even developed their own movement for some of their watches.

I'm actually glad this one is sold out, otherwise I would do an irresponsible impluse buy. I'm into colorful dials as of late, like the Oris Pro Pilot Laser. This one is also pretty cool and I could look at the dial, as I often do, when in a boring meeting.
