Anyone read Duncs book yet?

I was enjoying the book when I first started reading it. Then it very quickly became like Alan Partridge "needless to say, I had the last laugh" I tried not to cringe due to my love of the big man. I stopped reading it.

Yesterday, I discovered the audiobook version and was made up to listen to it on the drive home. It'll maybe "read" better with Dunc reading it.....

Jesus! He's just reading it with zero emotion in his voice  I had to turn it off after a few mins.

I'll be surprised if it goes to paperback.

I'd have thought anyone interested in it would have bought it by now, and the bargain basement bins will be filling up with the hardback copies for a cheap purchase.

He's Uzbeki. Born in Uzbekistan.

It's like John Aldridge claiming he's Irish when he was actually born under a tarpaulin in Garston.
So the Duke of Wellington was Irish then? Astronaut Michael Collins was Italian? Emma Watson is French? Bruce Willis is German?

You don’t half talk some bullocks mate, no wonder nobody takes you seriously.

‘Just because one is born in a stable, it does not make one a horse’.

Finally read it on holiday last week.

Being honest the bulk of sports bios aren't exactly masterful literary epics and this is no different.

It's quite meat and potatoes and although it does not change my affection for Dunc the player it didn't exactly increase my affection for Dunc the man.

Being brutally honest he comes across as a bit bitter and with a chip on his shoulder. Every setback seems to be someone else's fault, then he admits some culpability then goes back to whining about external factors so from that perspective it's quite a frustrating read.

By way of comparison I've read both the Pat Nevin books and found them entertaining and well written (you can tell he had minimal if any shadow writing help) and much more deserving of anyone's attention (especially if like me you also have a love of 80s indie)👍
