2025/26 Jake O'Brien

Alot more realistic to find a rb life isn't perfect agree, maybe did get priced out of rb this window and the club decided against short term options. But you honestly would accept to be in this position again next season.
I certainly wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. I’d still sooner sign two other strikers and a CB before a RB.

for me the main issue isnt that we don’t have a better right back than obrien

it’s that we likely won’t see him and Branthwaite at centre half this season, due to their being no adequate cover at RB

and if we have an injury to either Branthwaite or Tarkowski it’s Keane that comes in, rather than OBrien moving over

i know Keane has been sound but on the basis of the past 7 years you don’t want him playing, and it’s quite limiting too

was expecting us to start with JB and JT but by the end of the season for OBrien and Branthwaite to have formed a partnership

RB cover will be dictated by CM options, if a CM blend can be found that works well that doesn't involve Garner, he'll get game time rotating with O'B.

i think moyes would always go keane in first and obrien at rb, before he would go obrien at cb and garner rb if one of the starting cbs are unavailable

and it will cost us at some point, despite working alright for now

i still think keane and garner were both a huge influence in how leeds dominated us in that first half, neither could get the ball up the pitch

Garner played LB, and leeds over ran us in midfield. Besides a dodgy penalty the defence held up ok, there were no major chances you'd say they made on goal.
Moyes might currently favour Keane (who's been solid being fair to him) but every game O'B plays is more of that PL experience that seems so vaunted. O'B was 24 earlier this year, JB was 23 a couple of months back. They both have time on their side and are very clearly the long term CB pairing plan.

Highlighting that leeds game I could see why Luiz and McGinn were in the mix for bringing in, that type of character to stand up to the bully boy stuff in the middle.

Can work on multiple deals is not loosing sleep over it is just wanting an improvement like you have said at cf and cb. End of the season could easily have two gone in coleman retire and patterson. Plus why not obrien for cb i am pretty positive is a player in him and would be great see more in at cb

Playing regularly at right back will develop his skill set. Moyes tends to have a habit of introducing centre backs in wide positions first if my memory serves correctly, so it's no surprise.
