The top rated shows are all objectively good for what they are though, they aren't really any glaring impostors. Literally every TV show on IMDB over 9.0 is a certified banger. Just really surprising to see it rated so highly, especially as all the other dexter spinoffs and comeback shows haven't had good user ratings. Guess the only way to know is for me to watch it, but im so sick of dexter lol

It's definitely been something that affects more recent releases because they've done something to the calculation algorithm.

Filter those results for the last five years. I've also noticed a lot of foreign language shows are filling the 9+ IMDB ratings too. They don't have many votes when you actually look at the totals but they're all giving 10/10 because people are only arsed to vote if they feel strongly these days, if it was just OK people move on and don't bother but the people who love it give them all 10/10.

The survivor bias is real though, as you said you don't even know if you can be arsed with it. Anyone who watches it now has already stuck with a load of mediocre to crap telly and they're invested.

Is it better than Shogun which has over 220k and an 8.6 rating?

I highly doubt that. It's maybe the case if you were already a Dexter superfan as the people rating it 10/10 likely are.

For my final point here, Clarkson's Farm is ranked #30 of the Top 250 shows of all time with a 9.0 rating and 78k votes.

Absolutely this.

Morrow, Kirsh, Wins, all great characters.

The episodes with them are certainly the more interesting. Wendy is a decent concept, but find the other kids to be dull.

The episodes on the Maginot was excellent. Actors not a patch on the original alien, but it has the crown thus far. They could have made that entire story season 1.

Overall, I am enjoying it, despite the kids.

(Alien resurrection would have made a good TV series.)

So i saw the new Dexter series is somehow averaging 9.2 on IMDB, higher than any other version of the show and is the 17th highest rated show of all time, 10th if you exclude documentaries.

I find it hard to believe that a Dexter series could be that good this far down the line ? I assumed it was another money grab.

It is. It's truly awful. A classic example of introducing lots of characters to cover for the fact that the storyline is weak.

Yeh I don’t really know how his story will work because there are only two crimes involving living people so the rest will be more what he got up to at night/in the house, which isn’t really engaging to the viewer. Unless they go far back to the brother/mother? But he didn’t commit any crimes when his mum was alive.
