Levy gone!

1st Para. I think most neutrals would look at those sides today and laugh you back out of the room. Regardless of the names, none are competitive rn

2nd and 3rd paragraph, won't debate: fair points well made. Good insights for an outsider.

4th and 5th, give me a break. The 185m worth of signings you made (185m!!!!) were of the profile for Ange: young and athletic players that wanted to play his style of dynamic football. He just wasn't good enough to get enough out of them aside from a few one off knock out games against technically inferior opposition

Let's see what Frank does with basically the same group. I personally want to see Spurs do well, my Grandads team. Hence why I'm so surprised by Spurs fans' rose tinted glasses towards the Ange era and them turning on Levy
Gray, Bergvall, Yang, Odobert £90m of that money was punted on teenagers

Additionally what everyone outside Spurs never seems to get is the wage problem. We’ve spent big money on transfer fees on players over the last 5/6 years whilst consistently reducing our wage bill compared to turnover - the reality of that is we’re paying big transfer fees for meh players because they are happy with lower wages. Conte wanted Bastoni, he got Joe Rodon. Poch said “be brave” we bought Moussa Sissoko. Ange wanted top quality inverted wingers and we got him Odobert, Werner, Johnson (half decent but never a winger) Yang - that’s what Levy did, constantly.

As for the quality of sides, like i said in a previous post - 6 are in the CL this season, United have been in 4 cup finals in the last 3 seasons winning 2 of them, Frankfurt won the Europa in 2022 beating Rangers, Roma won the Euro conference in 2022 then made the final of Europa in 2023 - you would 100% be laughed out the room. It’s been 30 years, you just wouldn’t get this

Only in this Everton echo chamber would Roma, Galatasaray, Rangers, Man United not be recognised as a proper challenger - any neutral in this would laugh you out the room.

Ange had his failings, numerous in fact, but he understood were a side good enough to win a Europa and I would argue more importantly B) that trophy is not beneath us. Point B was a huge failing of many of Spurs managers who would choose to follow the boards wishes of throwing the competition aside in favour of trying to qualify for CL football via the league.

For that we will always be grateful to Ange and I do wonder if some of the reason that Levy has been forced out is because the true ownership of the club saw the celebrations in May, saw that it also delivered CL football and generated great financial returns and then wondered why the great Daniel Levy hadn’t bothered pursuing the same strategy in previous years when we had vastly better sides.

He wasn’t fully backed that second summer, it’s just fact. We spent money sure, but only Solanke was his signing and the guy was supposed to be Kanes successor. We spent £40m on Gray - looks well spent but he was 18 and only played as much as he did due to injuries. We bought another teenager in Odobert - again a Johan Lange signing rather than Ange. Bergvall 18 - Lange, Yang 18 - Lange. Timo row z Werner on loan.

It is undeniable he wasn’t backed that second summer beyond Kanes successor Dominic Solanke

Solanke
Gray
Odobert
Bergvall
Kinsky
+ Tel & Danso on loan

"Not backed"

Haha i'm speechless.

We were talking about the summer, Tel, Danso and Kinsky were all January and had to be signed due to an unprecedented injury situation - it’s not like Ange said “that’s who I want”

Ive acknowledged that Solanke was his signing. Leaves you with Odobert, Yang and Gray - Bergvall was agreed the January prior, even if you include him it’s 4 teenagers with an eye on the future, Yang was immediately loaned out.

1 player of his own and that reflected with who he was choosing when we had something slightly resembling a fit squad

Other than that you’re spot on fella

Zat is one of our senior forum 'knowers'. A bit like an ITK, but more on the side of scouting talent he knows we should definitely sign.
