Well, this is all new and fans haven't found their bearings yet, either spatially or in terms of identity. But it's clear the stadium is built with commercial exploitation at the very heart of it. Corporate requirements dictate, for example, the lay out of the interior of the stadium - which doesn't necessarily mean comfort for fans on concourses but efficiency for their exploitation. I expect a struggle to occur over the basic provision of toilets and room to move about. That's an obvious bone of contention already and we can see that it's just not working for many / most fans at the new stadium. That's quite besides the struggle to impose a football club identity physically upon a facility that is unapologetically corporate facing.

I've said this before: the shift from Goodison to BMD also shifted the people who were at the forefront of the struggles against the Kenwright regime, the plans to take Everton out of the city of Liverpool and the Moshiri regime. If the club think they can keep control of that facility and disregard or relegate fan presence to manageable stage army status they should have a very dramatic rethink. The Friedkin Group will find out what all Everton owners have found out: you'll be defeated if you dont bend to the will of our fanbase.

They still have NHS Trusts as their clients: hounding patients and patients groups brining claims against individual hospital trusts. The opposite to ambulance chasing I suppose, but I use the term as a generic one to describe all law firms.

Well I have say this was handled brilliantly. Real People’s Club stuff.

We were informed that we could visit Everton Way with an official escort. This guy was brilliant. Helped find the stone then took family photographs and then the zinger. “You can’t come all this way and not see inside”. We were taken pitchside in the South Stand and then he says “Better views upstairs” so we went up the escalator to the main concourse and into the bowl. Wow! is really all you need to say about the stadium. We must have had 40 minutes of his time and nothing was too much bother.

I have his name and will be letting the club know how important this fella made us feel.

That's fantastic.

They offered my dying brother a tour of GP but he was too ill to respond, so they sent a video for him from Diamond.

Regardless of what's going on on the field, I will always love how much they seem to actually give a [Poor language removed].

Some good points made there Dave, which I agree with but also comfortable that the whole point was to create a stadium that generates the revenues we need (corporate) whilst retaining what makes us tick as a club (fans and passion). I’m not sure I get your point on the shift of the KEIOC people and the will of the fans though - help me out on that please. Basis premise that the will of the fans will determine the success of BMD I agree with and I don’t share your pessimism that revolt is a likelihood based entirely on my experience.

Manageress was outside the Bramley at Brighton game telling everyone to go inside as the licence didnt cover it,
Shouting at the bouncers not doing there job,they ignored her along with everyone else.
All the ale was served in plastic glasse though.

Bonkers all that.

I tried to get out with two pints of Guinness in plassy glasses, bouncer said we couldn’t as the police had told them not to let any more out, even though there wee thousands outside.

Waited a sec then followed another lad out with the ale in our plassy cups.

Loads of pubs by the ground and in town have had visits from licensing about breaches of their licence whether it’s pavement drinking or off sales.

Advice has been given , I suspect we’ll see penalties going forward . If they haven’t already sorted their variations I think they’ll struggle to be honest .

I'm saying that - as in the past - organised fans will, if need be, bypass the likes of the Fan Forum lot and present real opposition to the club's major share owners on matters such as commercial exploitation.

Well what will happen is the pubs will lose their licenses , hence I suspect the woman in the bramley trying to stop people .

I think the plod were surprised by how many of us were about for Brighton , as discussed the city was blue . I also think a few boozers are new and are run by less experienced owners and they hadn’t anticipated the popularity whilst plenty did . It feels a bit small minded to me however I think a few might be in for a shock .

At least by taking both sides he’s making sure he can claim he’s right. That’s more important than anything Everton related.
