….i know one of his sons (and his daughter) big Liverpool fans. Thought he was quite classy but clearly was a bit ‘difficult’.
Styles & our Captain went in the part exchange deal for the Latch to Birmingham - I have read on many occasions in the cash plus 2 players deal both players were over valued to make it to £350,000 -

The was out cry when our captain HK was used in that deal - Evidently he & Billy Bingham it was rumoured they did not get on that well -

What an exchange though - Oh to have the Latch in our team today - I bet we could not afford him ....

He replaced my hero - but I soon warmed to him with his power & goals out of nowhere -

Yes Styles did score an OG v us - we had tried to sell him before & could not agree a price - it was nowhere near the price quoted in the exchange to Birmingham which was even higher -

HK going to the Midlands worked well for us in the end as Alan Durban of Stoke City begged him to train up for his coaching badges as he was training Stoke players anyway as he was a class player - HK came back to us as Manager two important players he had trained - Adrian Heath & Paul Bracewell - the rest is history !

My brother and his mates were just heading up the aisle to avoid traffic when then someone in the crowd shouted free Kick Sheedy - they dived back in the crowd as this then happened, we did not perform that day but what a come back -

I was somewhere central in the main stand in the opposite end. Luton battered us for 85 minutes, then...

It is Barnett but while he was playing for Arsenal in the 1972 semi final versus Stoke.

I think he won a cup winners medal with Arsenal - Bob Wilson took him under his wing to train him -

It must have been frustrating for Geoff - with at that time - Andy Rankin & Gordon West ahead of him -

I watched him as a young lad in that FA CUP youth team win & the all the home run in that competition at Goodison - he - hursty & Husband stood out a mile in that youth team that year ...

….Barnett played in the 1972 final against Leeds which Arsenal lost 1-0. Alan Ball also in that Arsenal team.

Stand corrected then - he was a accomplished keeper - on a side note we sold Kevin Richardson to Arsenal as he was a bit part player for us in the 1980's top teams - he won a league medal playing for Arsenal -

He scored two goals for the injured Sheedy one week & HK called him to his office sorry but I have to drop you - I expected that, but what more can I do boss ....

….and won League Cup with Villa, very underrated player was Richardson.

Can you name another player to win an English league title with us & then go on and win it again with another club?

Not offhand as I was up at 5am with my gout attack - a bit better no thank goodness - Paul Power from Manchester City joined us is it him ?
as he won the title with us & maybe with City ?

….nah, City were not so good then. Good little quiz question, the answer is Bobby Mimms who won the title with us & Blackburn.
The same keeper who blue fans blamed him when Big Nev - was injured baly in an international game for Wales - I thought he did the best he could - no one could hit Big Nev's capabilities as a keeper ....

I agree Joey,it wasn’t that he made any glaringly obvious errors,or we started shipping goals left, right and centre,it just boiled down to the fact he unfortunately wasn’t and never would be Neville Southall.
