Well yeah but I’m also serious. If they can’t ever just go out and beat a decent team comfortably they most likely are going to see this season whittle away. Even they can’t repeat last year with the close games. They’ve already not repeated it! They didn’t lose one last year!

The history of regression for teams who win a lot of close games in the prior season is very real. But I think suffering a major injury to a player who was probably a big part of their gameplan, and for it to happen so early was really the story of the night

Areas of concern definitely exist for the Chiefs though. That run game looked poor (thought Pacheco would come back a bit fresher), the new LT will need a fair bit of time by the looks of it, and there were a lot of basic unforced errors that were uncharacteristic of a Reid team. Thought Mahomes looked very good though, in spite of their dwindling arsenal of weapons.

Typically dynasties end when the QB situation becomes an issue. Mahomes has many years of quality play left ahead of him. So long as the supporting cast is up to scratch.

I've got a lot more into it over the last 5yrs, but i do still find it's surrounded by a massive cringe factor..

Also some of the rules still do my nut in, and the whole structure of how the leagues are set and play out is a bit strange, but that is American sports for you..

8 months or whatever it is without your team playing is definitely nonsense, and makes that interaction with the game probably alot harder to gain new fans..

That being said, it has caught my attention, which i'd never thought i'd say..

The defense was pretty poor though. And as good as Herbert was that’s not the most threatening offense. Ladd can play and then after that it’s guys you should handle. Can’t be letting this version of Keenan Allen kill you.

Always amusing to see a Chiefs loss but it is only week 1. Think a lot of successful teams are willing to write off the first 2 or 3 games to be healthier come the post season.

That being said, Ravens being early could be a problem if it results in another loss.

The QB still makes incredible plays but has lost his down to down effectiveness lately. We’re working on year 3 of it actually.

For me it’s just that any other team doing what they’ve done over the last year would get way less benefit of the doubt. They’ve obviously earned that right. It can also regress like we’d expect any other team to.

You need to give the Chargers some credit

They are a solid playoff team who should be in the divisional round this year

Take away the Chiefs, Ravens and Bills - they are next on the list in the AFC hierarchy imo

Week 1 can tend to be pretty nuts. Pretty sure not many people would've had Cowboys-Eagles to be a one score game and for the Chargers to dispatch of the Chiefs with relative ease..
