Join me in the spirit realm.

Drinking last year's blackberry brandy, highly recommended. It's a good year for hedgerow fruits. Give it a go, you won't regret it.

Noticed a blackthorn near to me that's full of sloes, not far off ready to be picked. If I get them I will give some sloe vodka a try.

I had loads of sloes left over last year so put some in with the blackberries. I can't remember how much sugar I used, probably less than the recipe says, as you don't want it too sweet unless you're aiming for a liqueur. You can always add more sugar, as you taste every month or so

This is what I use for sloe gin, but the damson gin is also fantastic.

You can flavour spirits with virtually anything that takes your fancy. Also you can add herbs/spices - I've used cinnamon sticks (not really impressed, and nutmegs, which were not bad at all.

You have started something now. Still waiting for those sloes to ripen to add to a bottle of vodka I bought, but in the meantime have started off a blackberry brandy (Spanish Brandy which I prefer) and Plum Rum (which should be ready for Xmas). Should be good exercise for the kidneys in the New Year.

The never ending spring cleaning which I stupidly started this week had at least one benefit. Tucked away at the back of a wardrobe for some reason was this. Absolutely delicious, smooth as a Grealish assist.

Scotch snob comment incoming...

Tamnavulin's offering's usually pair well with coke but neat pour beauties they are not....they're not priced to be, to their credit.
