Let’s put it this way, I’ll bet my life that Beto will never have the scoring season DCL did a few years ago and he’s (DCL) not good enough either

I said this the other day, it was never going to be all sorted this summer, but I’m pretty certain the next focus will be improving the forward line. Nothing wrong with that IMO

I’m not moving goal posts at all, I was covering my back, if I mention anything about DCL the Beto fanboys come at me. DCL Is clearly a better footballer, but that season was the anomaly, unfortunately, so I had to throw in the line that he wasn’t good enough.

Do you still think DCL without a preseason is better than our number 9?

I mean he scored 8 in half a season of starting. I suspect he can top that and reach 13 if he starts each week.

13 goals would be level with our former strikers second best ever output.

When was the last time we had a striker score 13 Percy?

All about expectations. How many of the strikers who scored 13 or more were part of a front 2 or 3? Rather than a focal point with 3 behind? Even if Beto scores 13 league goals this season (I doubt) it’s not enough for a striker who can’t hold the ball up playing up front in his own.

DCL is a better footballer than Beto, in my opinion, yes. We are years away from finding out, but I will happily bet any money that Beto will never score more in the league in a single season than DCL did a few years ago.

For all of the criticism of DCL’s finishing ability, there’s no way I’d swap his hold up play with Beto’s.

I like strikers that score goals better than ones that hold the ball up to win us a corner personally.
