2025/26 Everton Women - Super League & Cup Games

So where are we at? I try to watch watch Everton, but don't follow WSL.

I've noticed that there's a lot of optimism, but we've seen that before. Without delivering when the season starts.

After finishing 8th two seasons I was hoping for more this season, but did see that Guardian's WSL writers predicted Everton to be 8th again in their season preview.

Are we at a point where the league as a whole strengthens a lot year on year, so we need to invest and bring in better players to keep last years results? Or should we realistically target 5th and be "best of the rest"?
Predicting Everton and low is standard for the "Experts" - Surprised they havent used the excuse of to many new players etc (Which if they did i dont know what they would think of Loncity city who have bought about 16 new players).

Everton could have been 5th, but for a lost a few weeks before the end of the season. I think it will be a fight for 5th myself this season. Everton need to build on what they have now. The past they have got rid of good players as they had to survive, now they don't have too

I hope you're right.

Regarding new players, we've mostly signed players from clubs that are worse than 8th placed Everton. So I get that all don't share the same enthusiasm and optimism than those that follow the club's own PR machine. They have talked up a lot of ordinary players the last few years. I get that they have tickets to sell, but it's just too much in my opinion.

Every player is great. All new signings are fantastic. The manager is brilliant. They work so hard. It's such a good group. They improve all the time. Play so well. You couldn't tell that this is a team that in average take a point and score one goal per game the last two seasons.

Even if we don't need to sell, contracts are mostly short and many of them include release clauses. It will continue to be hard to keep the best players that does well, while those that doesn't perform will stay until the end of the contract.

Building a world class women's side would cost about the same as Mark Travers. Surprised TFG didn't go bigger this summer
It's about getting the right players who he wants to be fair - Didnt get everyone he wanted. Breaking the club record is a start. London City getting 16 new players this window so far could backfire big time, and is a touch bad on the players that got them promoted

I think the signings we have made improved us greatly from the team last year and we haven't lost anyone important, we should be around 5th or better next season anything under this would be a failure in my opinion.
I agree . I think the 9 signings are very, very good - I am happy we got Mace as they wouldnt even sell her just over 3weeks ago. For me i think 5th, but with so many others adding on top of what they got, even that may be tough. Chelsea again going and spending another million on one player to add to the 2 million they spend on 2 players last year, on top of the squad they already had. which is to me just making even normal players fee's go up so much

When you can see them on the telly.

"Grace Geyoro has agreed to join London City Lionesses from Paris Saint-Germain in a world record deal worth £1.43m ($1.65m)." These are the deals we need to do to be taken seriously.

Signing 17 players in one summer and spending that amount on one player is not to be taking seriously. Think it will backfire myself as many of their players are around 30ish and looks bad on the team that got them up from the championship (Now WSL2) - When/if their owner gets bored of her toy, they may disappear.

You dont need to spend a fortune, you just need the right players at the right price. Only thing the likes of London City and Chelsea are doing is pushing prices up for other teams who try and buy. We have done very good deals. We just need to hope it all goes well as ever and no ton of injuries like last few years
