Im glad they release episodes 1 and 2 together, as you have to really see them both to get the flavour. But it starts getting very interesting from episode 3/4 :) and Episode 5 just smashes it out the park! Shame its only 8 episodes!

Brilliant stuff - I can see why its been so popular tbh. So different to the usual, samey crap thats out there and with lots of cerebral angles not just action. I think its the best thing that has ever been on TV, but Im an alien fan - to most its probably just ok to good if you like the genre (but its not just about the alien, its soooo much more).

Never seen a show as polarising. I think it’s one of the worst written shows I’ve ever seen. And also one of the worst acted. It’s true the Morrow and Kirsch are decent but that’s it. But I can’t stop watching it now. Mainly because I’m sure there’s worse episodes on the way and im strangely hooked on it.
 

I think you are either being overly harsh or obviously havent watched that many recent shows if you think the acting in this is bad. Dont forget a lot of them are playing “kids”. Have you seen episode 5? The best episode imo, but have to agree the main lady officer in it isnt a great actor :) But generally the main cast are pretty solid imo.

I think its one of the best written shows Ive ever seen the way it combines the philosophical and horror aspects. Its great. Its good that people have different views though. Life would be boring if we all just loved Downton Abbey.

Agree with you on all of this. It's a great entry into the series, especially after the missteps of Prometheus and Covenant.

Find the criticism of the characters by some a bit off as they are essentially children and their actions are in keeping with that.

That being said, I do hope this story is done at the end of episode 8, and if there is a second series (which given the popularity I'd be amazed if there isn't) then its a whole new story, environment and characters.
Too much to hope for Alien: Colonial Marines?

Haha mate I was off for a couple of weeks recently and planned to watch all of the stuff I’ve saved but I’d had an op and the pain killers I was on were knocking me out so I couldn’t stay awake to watch any of them. I’m kind of happy I saved it all though cos I’ve got a load of irons in the fire ready for autumn when I can’t get out to play as much golf 😂

To be honest I thought they did a fantastic job with what budget they had to really make it look different and unique from a lot of the sci Fi stuff that's been on the sci Fi channel.

The design of the Rocinante and Ceres station is really well done and the work they did on the Beltas and the patois influenced language is also really well done.

I'm a massive fan of the series and the books.

To be fair I’ve only watched the pilot to this point so I can imagine that’s possibly worse then the rest of the first season even as they make it to then get approval for the rest of the season and funding don’t they? It was more the sets and some of the acting. That police detective who wears the hat had some terrible acting in it I thought. It does seem like the story will be good though, I’ll put another one on tonight I think

Id say watch up til the 4th or 5th episode to decide if you want to stick with it. The story really opens up and they have some really cool scenes with some very realistic physics of space warfare shown.

The first book is a bit a slow burn noir mystery at first which then massively grows in scale to cover the entirety of our solar system.

I’ll at least get through the first season I’d say. I’m just putting the 2nd episode on now. I’ll always give something a season if I think the story is something I’d buy into.

I’d say I probably did that with Invasion to be honest and I think that paid off pretty well with the 2nd season being much better. It’s all just buying time till the last seasons of The Boys, Invincible and the next season of the 3 Body problem come out anyway pal

The battle with Hardrada doesn't contain Stamford Bridge or even any bridge.

It's mildly entertaining but horrifically inaccurate.
The scene of Edward the confessor beating his mother Emma of Normandy to death with his crown should have been where I stopped but I kept watching...

Watched 4 episodes and disappointed in the historical content.
And for what is a really good cast the acting is dreadful.

I'le stick it out but seriously not impressed.

It's a massive shame because this could have been very good.

I've started watching Pillars of the Earth which I have never seen hut by all accounts is far better than K&C

Could have been a classic.

Shocked to see James Norton & Nickolai Coster Waldau featuring heavily in the credits as Exucutive producers.
I really thought better of them.

Will give Pillars of the earth a go too.
 
Haven't seen anyone really mention it but Jason Momoa's Apple TV series Chief of War is quite decent.

Think of it like a Hawaiian Shogun, covering the rise of Kamehameha.

It can be a little slow but the cinematography is wonderful. I was supposed to be visiting with the missus this week but then we found out she was pregnant so now we're changing nappies and watching it on TV.
