Specsavers older drivers be warned .... Beware .....

Just been there - Just found out they have won the contract with the DVLA to any older drivers to get them off the road - they are on a retainer to get drivers banned -

I passed - but he asked me to come back next year ?

My son looked at my prescriptions in my folder as he was ordering glasses for my good lady from Glasses Direct as they are at least 50% cheaper than any hight street optician -

I stated I am ok as Specsavers optician had put no new glasses needed ...

As my son was adding my prescription details - he stated what a clown this optician really was my right eye had deteriorated by full two points so he immediately helped me to pick new frames & put my prescription in as I wear Varifocals - I did ask the optician I seen for my pupil distance - refused - but little did he know Glasses direct have a new App - to help you to get the pupil distance ... for your eyes -

I picked an expensive frame transitional varifocal lenses - free postage & they came brilliant I can see far better in both eyes now as the left eye had some deterioration too - thinking back he did ask me how much I drive - never been asked that before - first time at Specsavers = never again -

I even telephoned them up to se if he had made a bad error - No was the answer -

Please google it - Only optician on a contract with the DVLA !
Happy new glasses day Joebocop.

Hopefully you're still good to drive the combine harvester, yeah?

Especially cyclist who are exempt from all these criteria's..... They cause many an accident - I have dash cams fitted front & rear ....from my ignition ...

Been in the news a lot recently.

It'll mean people will stop going for eye tests now for fear of losing their driving licence.

But in a few years, passing eye tests will be compulsory as part of the over 70s, who need to renew every 3 years.

It is a bit iffy that Specsavers are currently the sole DVLA approved, but when it gets to the stage that it's compulsory - loads will be approved, and there will be appeal processes.
Over here you have to do it when you get your last level of license but there's nothing to make you do another test before you hit the old age requirements so I'm sure there's loads who should have to wear them while driving that are getting away with it.

How many deaths have been caused by cyclists running into folk @Joey66 ?

They're a menace in the road and I can't stand them but it's not a car.
Road tax number plates Insurance MOTs at Halfords for anyone over 18 years old coming down hill they can hit 50 mile per hour in a 30m per hour zone - the cheeky gits have a dash cam's on their helmets
