Anybody been to Kas in Turkey ? I like turkey but usually stay in oludeniz , fancy somewhere different next time though and kas looks great in the pics I’ve seen.
I never made it to Eastern Turkiye, but the Western part was magnificent.I have to say that I've fallen in love with Cappadocia. I won't come here again as I've done what I had wanted to do, but I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone who hasn't already been if you have the opportunity to do so.
Next stop is Izmir tomorrow.
I was in Kalkan in July and went to Kas a couple of times on the bus.Anybody been to Kas in Turkey ? I like turkey but usually stay in oludeniz , fancy somewhere different next time though and kas looks great in the pics I’ve seen.
That looks lovely, I like a more laid back vibe, a bit like Rhodes old town, lots of little alleyways and back streets to wander around. Thanks for the picsI was in Kalkan in July and went to Kas a couple of times on the bus.
Really lovely place. Great laid back vibe. Great restaurants serving amazing food.
Lots of little alleyways with buzzing bars. Very international scene - not limited to just Brits.
Couple of nice beaches just to the north - you can get a bus from Kas town.

You’ll never forget the smell, I haven’t… or the random car journey charges during the day when seemingly most streets magically change what direction you can drive down them at various parts of the dayI was in Venice today. It's worth a visit if you happen to be close by but I wouldn't make a huge effort to visit the place. I was left a little underwhelmed to be honest.
Have stayed in Kas at least half a dozen times since 2007, probably my favourite place in Turkey. Basically it's a working town that caters for tourists, in the past mainly Turkish visitors but now more and more international tourists. It was originally a Greek fishing village situated at the bottom of a valley in a crescent shaped bay (Kas means eyebrow in Turkish), It Is very picturesque with a number of islands visible off the coast including the Greek island of Meis (Castelorizo) which is worth a day trip/visit. Numerous bars and restaurants to chose from, and lots of small shops in the narrow streets that rise from the seafront. It is hilly, and steep, as are most of the seaside towns on this coast (e.g. Kalkan). A number of small beaches around and about the town but no major one so you will need to do a bit of research if you are looking for beaches (Trip Advisor forum is recommended). Be careful to check when the Muslim festivals are when planning your trip, Kas is very popular during these weeks with Turkish families on holiday - great atmosphere but can get crowded. I am missing Kas out on my trip to Turkey this year but can guarantee I will go back there again in the future.Anybody been to Kas in Turkey ? It is a lovely place. We stayed in a villa in Kisla which is on the far side of the bay - amazing views both day and night.Always wanted to go to kalian looks lovely.
Villas decent prices, but was put off by the length of the journey from the airport, is an hour and a half isnt it?
What were the prices like food/drink ect.It is a lovely place. We stayed in a villa in Kisla which is on the far side of the bay - amazing views both day and night.
The old town is fantastic with loads of bars and restaurants hidden down little side streets - most offering rooftop dining.
People are lovely, genuinely really warm and friendly.
As you say the haul from the airport is a bit of a pain - I think it was around 1hr 45mins £90 each way as there was 6 of us so we needed a big vehicle, but the transport had air-con and there was a fridge with water in the back. Our driver on the way back even stopped at a cafe and bought us all ice creams
Can’t recommend it enough

Prices generally have gone up in Turkey as they have had very high inflation for a number of years which the govt do not do much about. Add to that the very large tax increases on luxuries, especially alcohol, and in many places prices are not dissimilar to the UK, which is a bit of a culture shock for people who visited Turkey in the past. One other major price increase is the cost of entering museums and ancient sites, some of which, to me, are eye-watering. An example is Patara beach, which is not too far for Kalkan, and in many peoples opinion the best beach in Turkey. It is 30 euros to go on the beach if you use the main entrance. The reason is to get to the beach you have to pass thorough the ruins of ancient Patara, so you have to pay that entrance fee even if your only interest is going to the beach. (This charge can be avoided if you know the area (taps nose)). Generally speaking both Kas and Kalkan are amongst the most expensive places to visit in Turkey. To me, well worth it, Kas especially. What were the prices like food/drink ect.
Heard a few people coming back from Turkey saying it had gone up quite a bit( not kalkan )
I am off to kos on Sunday looking forwards to that
back two weeks and then going for a week in Benalmadena.
