Ref analysis of Tarkowski handball.

Why on earth would he use his arm on purpose to block a shot that had little chance of going in knowing that the consequence was an almost certain goal from a penalty? Have you played football? If the ball is kicked at you it's very hard to get out of the way of.
He does a dumb thing every single week! That’s why!

We all do remember that line about "Clear and Obvious" yeah?

There's no interpretation of that handball rule that's ever been "Clear and Obvious" since VAR was introduced.

It's constantly a subjective question that they choose to interpret to favour the big clubs and use against the likes of us.

It's horribly inconsistent and it was never meant to be.

Every time the ball hits the hand of a defending team player in the box, in any way or in any context whatsoever - Ref tosses a coin. Heads - Pen, Tails- Play on.

Reckon the refs and VAR will get just as many right and wrong overall.

Spot on

I cannot believe that this handball situation and the situation at Fulham over the week are allowed to even happen with VAR. It puts far too much power into the officials hands to potentially change the trajectory of a football match retrospectively through more subjective decisions and that just doesn't sit right with me at all..

I'm at the point where I genuinely want VAR to just be scrapped now. Keep the semi-automated offside system, the goal line technology & just sack the rest of it off.

VAR should have an independent team independent from any influence. They should be completely unbiased and able to make logical conclusions. As others said (and this brings me back to the Young penalty they took away) they intentionally manipulated the official with the angle. That is not acceptable. Sky should not be in their ear telling them to make an exception for the big market teams. VAR should be a good thing but it is ruined by bias and corruption.

Sadly I just expect it. VAR has ruined the game from the beginning.

In the Brighton game the penalty was given for the arms in an 'unusual position'. He was literally protect his face from having a ball slammed in it.

The rules tell them to run with their arms behind their backs. That's the unusual position.

How many Olympic medals for the 100m were won with their arms behind their backs.

PreVAR the ref was responsible. Now he can just ignore or call as he likes because an unknown face will take the pressure off.

It's just a big one of the many reasons why I don't watch football much anymore.

When you know your refs and var officials have really messed up with a ridiculous decision what do you do? Come out and support them.

It's almost as if the League and referee organisation are controlled by Sky because of the obscene amounts of money paid for licensing

I think that probably gives Sky too much credit, they certainly have a mutually beneficial relationship, but I think if a rival to Sky offered the Premier League more money they would jump ship.
