Villa always been a bit of bogey side for us, but they don't seem to be as strong so far - their window seemed a rush job at the end, Elliott a good signing, but Sancho & Lindelof just feel like rushed desperation signings at the end

Same side as Wolves, hopefully another victory.

Branthwaite can't be far off after the break

Bench should be looking strong, adding Rohl in there now as well
Yeah, they’re more unsettled than when we played them in Moyes’s first game, and we’ve strengthened this summer, so you’d like to think we could get a result this season.

A lot depends on how Moyes sets us up - we need to get stuck into them from the off, let Grealish shine, so that their fans get on their backs.

Won’t be easy, in any case.

AV clog the midfield and have pressed well in past seasons (our biggest weakness) but are prone to cede possession and can be beat wide and with long balls. Our transfers have given us a decent ability to transition into the attack from wider spaces, but real pace would be useful here.

Keep Morgan on a leash and they aren’t that dangerous.

I’d like to see us play physical in the midfield and make them frustrated. Could see Grealish and Ndiaye winning plenty of free kicks and could put a couple of their players on early yellows.

This is why I hate these early season international breaks.
Could ruin the little head of steam we're building up and gives them time to regroup after a poor start.

Still, home advantage and hopefully we can keep some of that momentum and get a result.
Hope someone sticks their studs through Harvey Eliiott's knee, the rat.

I like Villa and see us as fighting the same battles as they do but we really need to improve our record against them since they came up.

We have a good chance there albeit I expect a difficult, tight game. We have to make HD a real fortress. Villa will be up for it after a poor start and looking to reset.

Them not scoring yet is a concern. However we looked very fluid going forward vs Wolves and with more of the same we can win this.

I haven't looked at their schedule, but last season they half arsed it against us and we should have won both games. Not sure what emphasis they will put on Europa as opposed to champions league and they might come full throttle at us this time. It's a good test to see where we are at. Shame we don't have Branners healthy though
