Honestly who could possibly care about all this nonsense about moles and leaks and ITKs and Patreons and all the rest. None of it has anything to do with what is actually going on here.
The evidence is growing - and is about a week away from being overwhelming - that we’ve cooked this window completely. I don’t care whose fault it is, and it seems like the whole system they’ve concocted is to avoid it being any one person’s fault. But it’s staring us in the face.
We knew for at least 12 months what this summer had to look like, and as soon as the owners and manager got in place there was the ability to prepare. And yet we’ve just started the season with one of the most randomly concocted and unbalanced teams Everton have ever put out. Instead of focusing on restoring the team’s foundations and then sprinkling quality on top, they’ve spent the summer on a series of wild goose chases that remain ongoing 13 days from the deadline.
We need two new starters by Sunday, in midfield and at right wing, or we will lose to Brighton in the first ever game at the HD and that will be in the record books forever. Given the scope of change at the club this is not a season we can start slowly in. Leaving Goodison is a huge sacrifice for the fans of this club, and they need to see a reason why they have made that sacrifice or a whole lot of goodwill will be wiped away very quickly.
