The difference here is we have signed one proven top top level performer who has done it in the premier league and champions league in Grealish. Two players with at least a season in the premier league in KDH and Dibling. And the balance of players we have bought works. A tall rangy midfielder who eats up the ground and is a physical beast is exactly what we were missing.

Rooney had done it in the Premier League and Champions League. Siggy had played numerous seasons in the Premier League. Michael Keane and Pickford had as well.

Sandro Ramirez was a spanish wonderkid and Vlasic was going to be a star as well.

Fullbacks aren't important????? ;)OK then..... Let us move on quickly.
They are the least important position on the pitch in terms of points accumulation. That's why when you pick a Sunday league team the worst players generally end up there and when fullbacks from a high level drop down they always want to play midfield or wing.

Rooney was absolutely finished. His legs had completely gone. Grealish is clearly still at his peak. Siggy we massively overpaid. The issue was most of our money was spent buying players who didn't complement each other. Siggy/Rooney were the Grealish equivalents and there is obviously absolutely no comparison. I watch Sandro in the U21 World Cup and knew he was terrible. Pickford was obviously good.

Am I getting this right? - roughly

Harrison - Grealish
Lindstrom - Dibling
Alcaraz- Alcaraz
Doucoure - KDH
Young - Aznou
DCL - Barry
Chermitti/ Broja - Nobody
Mangala - Rohl
Virginia - Travers
Begovic - King

Others that have left were out on loan last season anyway so don’t represent a material change.

Completely disagree.... full backs, used correctly, can be some of the most effective players on the pitch both defensively and offensively, providing balance and width for a team.

How fondly we spoke of Baines / Coleman pairing in their prime and I would say it is not a coincidence that many of our best seasons in the last 20/30 years when they were here.

We have failed to get a RB for the umpteenth window now and this has to be a priority next summer.

JOB is doing a decent job but he is not a RB.

In an attacking sense so far I think its been a great success. We've gone from having only Ndiaye and occassionally McNeil being a threat to goal to having a frontline where everyone can score and assist and there feels like an actual plan getting the ball into the box.

Defensively it is hard to look past not getting a more permanent solution at right back. While I think we can make do for now I think its pretty limiting to us as a team. O'Brien has done well there and I think we use his height to our advantage there at times but its clear in some games he struggles as he's not exactly an overlapping threat or going to swing a killer ball in as much as he tries.

8/10

I'd be interested to see a re-run of this vote in December... because really, there's no way of knowing how happy we are with the window now.

The proof is in the pudding - and the pudding, in this case, is a football.
This is a fantastic point.

Everyone was creaming there kecks that summer when Walsh bought every number 10 under the sun and more and called it a glourious summer.

Fast forward a few years and Marcel " He takes what he wants " Brands signed Moise Kean and he was walking on water in the eyes of people on here.
One thing is for certain though - Moyes has a really solid squad on paper now to kick us on into a top half finish, so there can really be no excuses if he doesn't..

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion..... but some of the ratings of 5/10 on here make me think some of our fans are operating in an entirely different reality. To call the window anything other than a success is absurd.

Also why are people having a go about not getting players in early? The issue with that - and it was an issue a month ago - was the notion we'd thrown away the start of the season.

However we have 6 points out of 9 and would have 7 if not for an extremely harsh penalty. Its a null and void issue for me now, especially with the international break.

We didn't get a RB. That's the key disappointment for me. Other than that, we have got tonnes done, both ingoings and outgoings. Secured JBs contract. The squad is far better than the end of last season. Simply can not wrap my head around anyone giving less than a 7/10.
Blob on 👏

They are a luxury rather than a necessity. They are like a spoiler on a sports car. Yeah they make the car go faster but you can still drive it quickly without one. A spare tire is much more important. They are the least important position on the pitch in terms of earning points.

OK sure....

Let's agree to disagree on this one.

8 for me.

9.5 if we had snagged a quality right back.

and 10 if we had also got an improved left back.

I am happy though, we're gonna be an exciting team to watch this season, and I really like the profile of footballer we have brought in and been in for.

Eh? The number of summers were I think we have improved since the start of the premier league I can count on one hand. In the last 15 years we've only had about 3 or 4 windows that I can remember were we brought in a reasonable number of players. This is the best window I can remember and the upgrades are there for all to see. Think about how far Dwight McNeil, before last season our most creative player, is away from the starting line up. He'll be seriously struggling to get any serious game time now.
I reckon as fitness is gained, and games start catching up with regular starters, McNeil will get significant game time as first choice sub for Grealish. If we can get games won comfortably I can see Moyes locking games down and resting as much of his first choice whilst testing out the new lads.
