SEVVVEN!!!!
the right side is a bit of a worry would have liked a RB to allow JOB to be used more at CB with Brath
Saying that players are looking more flexible in their positions Garner a prime example.
I’m sure come January it will be sorted

A 9 from me, that would be a 10 if we were able to get our RB but I understand the position the club have taken especially when we've been burned by buying any old dross to come in.

I didnt think the club would be able to bring as many players in as they have done. The only long drawn out saga being Dibling, its nice that we went and worked somewhat efficiently getting Rohl, KDH, Aznou, Travers and Barry with no messing around.

I liked the way we worked this window, had our clear targets and solid back ups in mind. Woltemade was too much, so we swiftly moved on to a similar profile in Barry, Fofana rejected us so we moved to a similar profile in Dibling, Soucek wasn't available so we went back for Rohl. Frustratingly the only other solid links I can recall not coming off or moving to a backup is Ake and Tete.

Onwards and upwards.

Best window in years.

Branthwaite signing a new deal and then getting Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish are beyond what we were expecting in May.

Yes it is disappointing we didn't get a right back in but we couldn't fill all the holes in one window and we now see tte method in the madness in giving Keane a new deal.
Keane is also our backup striker option, that's depth

When you think about it, we were never going to solve everything in one window but we have made a really good start and are a lot better than we were this time last year. The middle of the park and sides is excellent and the front is better than it was with Barry but could still do with some improvement. The back still needs significant improvement but will be bolstered quite a bit when Jarrad comes back. 7 or 8 is about right overall and we have definitely got a chance of a top 10 finish this season imo. Couple more windows and we should be unrecognisable.

I never said it was ideal…but for the record

Garner played RB for England at the Under 21 tournament which they won and has for esp in big games like Bournemouth.

O’brien isn’t a RB but played their from Jan onwards when moyes came and defensively did fine.

Coleman looked fine on Wednesday in league cup

So if all the other 3 are out (which would be seriously unlucky) then we still do have patterson

And If your down to just Patterson come 1st of Jan we will defo go get someone
That's my favourite "for the record" that people keep saying - in the same U21 where Gordon played #9 and got player of the tournament, yet he's not a #9 in any life; Garner has also played CB for the United academy, why don't we just lump him there, same level of play anyway. He has played well at full back once or twice, but he's also been terrible once or twice - similar to how he's now at left back. Versatility is good quality to have but we can't rely on it - we have no presence going forward or building play with him for the majority of the game if he's lost as a full back - Mykolenko coming in instantly improves the entire left side.

O'Brien played there due to necessity and did well, Moyes won't sub him - similar to how Lescott played LB for ages - but he doesn't offer a lot going forward consistently and is almost allergic to overlaps and can't cross well at all, and we don't play exclusively for set pieces now, so it's a bit more obvious that we're playing a CB at RB.

Coleman looked fine against a L1 team indeed, but we don't play in L1 and he's not got it anymore sadly. Patterson is someone I personally wanted to do well but it seems it will never happen either, so they're both just filler at this point, unless Patterson has an epiphany of some sort.

We failed to strengthen a vital position where we knew we were weak (fot the last 4 years), and we're at the same spot there. Unless it's some absolute bargain - Moyes doesn't shop around a lot in January. Failing to strengthen and relying instead on hope and good fortune that no one gets injured is a sign of a pretty bad situation.

Anyway, we don't have to see eye to eye on this and it's largely irrelevant. Other than taking our time with most of the transfers and players not being 'ready' and what we already mentioned above - we did quite well. As I said, Grealish and KDH present great value, hopefully we manage to keep Grealish somehow.

It all obviously depends on how good some of the less proven players prove to be - Barrie, Dibling, Rohl and Aznou. But the midfield/attack has been completely transformed in terms of quality, average age and strength in depth. I can’t remember the last time we had so many options in midfield/attacking midfield/wing. It’s a 9 from me.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion..... but some of the ratings of 5/10 on here make me think some of our fans are operating in an entirely different reality. To call the window anything other than a success is absurd.

Also why are people having a go about not getting players in early? The issue with that - and it was an issue a month ago - was the notion we'd thrown away the start of the season.

However we have 6 points out of 9 and would have 7 if not for an extremely harsh penalty. Its a null and void issue for me now, especially with the international break.

We didn't get a RB. That's the key disappointment for me. Other than that, we have got tonnes done, both ingoings and outgoings. Secured JBs contract. The squad is far better than the end of last season. Simply can not wrap my head around anyone giving less than a 7/10.

The increase in quality is there for all to see, and we got 2 league wins in August, barely remember what that felt like. Some really exciting signings.

Of course there is the glaring RB issue, and it still feels like a short squad when it comes to outfield players. Probably could have done with a RB + a striker and one more.

If this window is anything to go by then I expect we will finally address those 2 issues in January / next summer. This one is an 8 for me.
