The other day I did something nice and took my kids to a trampoline park after school. Before they left they started asking me to buy them an Icee (not sure what you call them over there but they’re cups of shaved ice with syrup in them). So I did something nice again and took them to get one. And then in the middle of that, my older son decided to ask me to buy him a snack.

Everyone still harping about right back after all the players bought and all the money spent this window is my son asking for a snack.

Buy your kids some snacks you tight wad

The right back is a frustration because we look close to having a pretty good squad, one that could achieve something. Just feel it may be let down by square pegs in round holes at the back.

Why is it that we can’t swap our fullbacks around? I get it that some have a preference for which foot they favour. But these are pros and should be able to play on the right and left side.

When Branthwaite comes back, why can’t Aznou (when up to match fitness) play either side? We’re stronger when players aren’t one dimensional specialists. We should be able to move Myko right and left. Same with Tarkowski.

It would’ve been great to get a RB in. Well we didn’t. And I’m glad we didn’t spend everything on one when we spent wisely and got so much.

Until we’re consistently higher up the table, use what you’ve got. Move the pieces around. Those defenders should be able to play anywhere back there. Garner’s doing everything asked of him and is highly successful. He’s been on both sides of the midfield, RB, anything we’ve needed.
If I am not mistaken (willing to be corrected) , Aznou can play on both sides mate.

Not Bad.
5/10

-2 failure to get players in for pre-season.

-2 No quality right back.

-1 failure to utilise the loan market to have adequate squad depth (ST)

Happy with who has been added,
a step up in quality, money spent wisely.

Some leeway for adjusting from a previous owners regime.

A bridge too far from excellence, lessons have not been learnt and that old familiar feeling to a "difficult" window.

Something to build on sensibly.
Seriosly , how much did you expect us to achieve in one window , mate ?

I think there are some fair points in there personally. 9 players sounds a lot but when you break it down there’s 2 keepers to replace the 2 who left, a back up left back with very little experience, a player we already had on loan etc. we’ve done some good stuff but there’s no need to get carried away until we see how it works out. People have been saying we’ve improved every summer since I can remember but it’s rare it turns out we really have. I’m happy enough with what we’ve done but there’s no need to make out like it’s been a miraculous window just yet.

Garner, O’brien, coleman, patterson…should provide enough cover & just get through to Jan
Not a right back, a centre back, a geriatric who's been past it for roughly 4 years and isn't lasting more than 1 full game a month and someone who's just not good enough. Not exactly confidence inspiring, but yeah, let's hope for no injuries or fatigue, ever, instead of reinforcing. Which we also aren't likely to do in Jan.

The only area we are probably weaker than last season is in centre forward depth. Defence is pretty much the same, central midfield is stronger, attacking midfield is stronger. Much stronger. A hell of a lot stronger.

A few key additions in January and we will be going into next summers window in a much healthier position where we can spend our money with much more focus.

I would maybe be giving this window a 7.5

I never said it was ideal…but for the record

Garner played RB for England at the Under 21 tournament which they won and has for esp in big games like Bournemouth.

O’brien isn’t a RB but played their from Jan onwards when moyes came and defensively did fine.

Coleman looked fine on Wednesday in league cup

So if all the other 3 are out (which would be seriously unlucky) then we still do have patterson

And If your down to just Patterson come 1st of Jan we will defo go get someone
