2025/26 Beto

Bottom line ....best we have right now ! Works hard and has now bagged two !
He will out score DCL for sure ! Get behind him ....
Fair play to him. Awkward as hell, loses the ball too much. But gets relatively decent results. Hopefully him and Barry putting pressure on each other and better service from our upgraded squad he'll improve.

I do think Moyes is trying to play better football which Beto will need to adapt to. I don't think we should ignore Beto's strengths and weaknesses though like we did against Leeds. You do want to get him in situations where he is on the last man. That is where he is at his best. Let him improve at his own pace and keep the competition between Barry and Beto going. They will both be better from it.

On the other hand, how can we be expected to challenge for the top ten, if we don’t have a top ten striker?

What position did he finish in league strikers last season?
Well your favourite manager Dyche didnt get a tune out of him, and 17th was acceptable to you not top 10. He's scoring much more freely under Moyes.

We have a lot of rebuilding to do, 15 goal strikers aren't growing on trees anymore like the 90s and cost a fortune and only want to play for the top 4 teams. Wood would be off to one of those in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose, Delay happy to sit on the bench. We are rebuilding the core of the team very well so far, Beto will be more than adequate for now.

Exactly. Back in days of yore managers would develop players and make them better. Beto looks the real deal as a finisher to me and if he adds to his all-around game he’ll be a top player in the league.

And even if he doesn't improve, he's still more than capable. Maybe its a style over substance thing, Yakubu made finishing look a work of art but he didnt do f all else by the time he reached us. Just keep banging them in Beto lad.

Yeah, but he had the raw tools, I think. Imagine you added the old centre forward toolkit to his game? That sort of physicality you’d get from Mark Hughes, Big Dunc and the like. He could become a brilliant player if he puts in the effort and it clicks for him.

This thread beggars belief. I love the comments on the Yak and Rom. Basically our only top quality strikers in over two decades. Beto is probably not the long term answer but we don’t have the money to replace him right now. Goals should come from multiple players now and we can look again in the next couple of transfer windows. If we’re flying better players will want to join us.
