In danger of getting carried away?

There's a lot to be pleased about at the moment. The stadium, the new signings making a difference, some very nice football being played, and wins, glorious wins.

It's something I feel many of us has craved for some time - to feel good about Everton and thst we're on the up. Its lovely, genuinely great to have a feel good vibe.

But, and there's always a but, are we in danger of collectively getting carried away? We've been starved of the above for so long it's only right to indulge, but should we temper the enthusiasm slightly? Its still early days this season and there'll be bumps in the road.

We need to keep the positivity, but fall into the trap of setting ourselves up for a fall, with heads falling off over a setback imho.

Or am I just being a killjoy miserable so and so?

I think it's good to stay calm, we are likely going to have a 'palace' type season and win some lose some draw some whilst playing some great football

The squad needs more investment over a number of windows to be able to compete again but it's good to feel positive about the future

No, you are being a realist.

We are loving these last two league results and especially the way Grealish has hit the ground running.

Dewsbury Hall looks a good signing, Jimmy G is blossoming, Beto is scoring and Skilliman is doing what he does best.

And we have Dibling and Barry to look forward to. Plus the return of Branthwaite.

So there is lots to be positive about.

But that defence worries me big time.

Those two goals yesterday were real Keystone Cops qualty (teenagers, ask you great grandad).

Brighton could have easily scored four last week and should have scored two when you look at Welbeck’s miss and the penalty.

So yes…I am very happy right now and for the first time in several years I am not glad there is an international break to relieve my EFC inflicted misery 😕

But I am not getting carried away.

(not yet, anyway 😎)

Not at all - but just wait till we play stronger opposition - 1968 we had a blistering team Colin Harvey claimed it played better football that season than when we won the title 2 years later, but the more or less the same team the Manager just made us not a soft touch in defence .....
ATM our defence is all over the place - missing Brathwaite plus I feel we need two class full backs to push on IMO -
The engine room with the new signings has sparked a touch of class no doubt about it ;)

If you can’t enjoy a bit of optimism when it comes, what is the point?

Not directed at you, and I know it’s the internet, but some people seem to derive no enjoyment out of Everton and football whatsoever.

The stadium is top, the team and football show clear improvement and we seem to be finally getting it right off the pitch.

If you can’t get carried away now then you aren’t doing it right.

Yes, the Brighton game could have easily gone a different way as the defending was absolutely atrocious.

In my view we’ve had 4 good halves of football out of 6 so far with the first halves of Leeds and Brighton being really poor in my opinion.

That said I’m pleased we seem to be much luckier than I can remember for a long time with teams missing sitters against us, not scoring pens, and not scoring last minute sickeners which seem to always have happened in recent years.

So I’ll take a better stroke of luck and hope that the momentum can keep going and our form keeps improving with it
