This. His footballing ability is clearly questionable but the lad is returning goals & that’s his job.
Long may it continue Beto!
I seem to remember the “all he does is score goals” criticism of Lukaku.
Duh…

To add further, for the majority of these games he had supply from McNeil, Doucoure, Charlie, Garner, Gana, Lindstrom and Harrison (+ Illy)...Just to add... 8 in 21 prem games under Moyes (or 8 in 16.6 games if you do it by minutes played)
Exactly. I wouldn't call him the most talented player in the world, but he works hard and if he actually plays games, he scores goals. At the end of the day that's all you really need from a striker.Just to add... 8 in 21 prem games under Moyes (or 8 in 16.6 games if you do it by minutes played)
Plus we now have the possibility of more goals from anywhere in midfield and out wide, and the danger from set pieces with improved takers here.Exactly. I don't think he will keep up that 1 in 2 record over a full season, but 10-15 is a reasonable target that I'm very confident he will hit- off the top of my head we've only had that return from a striker once since Lukaku left (DCL in COVID).
I think this is the best he has played for us. Link up play was better. Seemed more aware of other players.
I am on record as saying I think Barry is the better footballer but I think Beto raised his game today and took on the challenge.
He can be one of three strikers though? We can't afford the finished article in our position so Beto is useful as is Barry as he develops, another one would be ideal. Ultimately the game isn't just about your number nine these days as we showed today, its about the three behind and the midfielders. Ndiaye will likely be our top scorer againI’m not thick pal, im just not convinced a striker with 13 goals in 63 appearances (in the league) is good enough, especially when his support is a kid who we don’t know about yet. It’s my opinion we need better, if you’re happy with Beto I have no problem with that, at the end of the season we can look back at this discussion. Do you have a certain target for goals that would justify your conviction that Beto is the answer? I won’t expect a high target, I doubt you’ll even give one, but let’s see.
lineker too, he could finish game with 5 touches of the ball but two goalsThis.
