What Did You Last Eat Thread

It really is out of hand, luckily me and my better half can batch cook and do our best to budget and make sure we are eating a reasonably healthy diet, with some treats here and there.

I’m sure ten years ago shopping just seemed so manageable. Going to the dogs this place since brexit, I know there are other factors (inflation ect) but my daughter just spent the summer in the south of France (Nice) and she was paying next to nothing for her shopping, local produce and good food, even eating out for 1/4 of the price here. The south of France for goodness sake!
The nation chose the greatest democratic action of self harm ever witnessed in western society, and instead of putting its hands up and admitting it got it wrong, is doubling and tripling down on the decision and making things worse some more. Him in the kremlin chose his moment to strike and do as much harm as he could, we'll watch on whilst people are murdered with nerve agent poison here, but so much as glance at our energy supplies and it's sanctions time, and best of all, do you know who's fault it is? Anyone not white and straight and christian church going.

So far as food goes, it's time we all got back to waste-not-want-not, and started utilising every scrap of land we can for allotments and growing our own. The age of plastic-fantastic convenience is over, rations, and hardship, and toil, and sweat are the means we have left. Unless you got a vip lane ppe contract, where you became a multi millionaire overnight with the right pals...

This country doesn't make me sick, it is a sickness. Of entitlement, and toryism.

Americans voted for Trump - twice.

Well Rita, you know what, that post pretty much summarises the entire debacle as it was. Self harm on a shameless level that those who picked it, I dare to say never even had an an awareness of its consequences and it costs to them / us directly over the coming decades. Propaganda in its best! Cummings and co sure sold a false dream.

Started on the door steps of Downing Street the moment that insufferable PM Cameron rolled the dice to cling on to power. Referendum, my ar*e.

As you say, it’s scrimp & save now when it comes to all living costs and especially the basics like food and keeping warm over the winter. Whole situation put our most vulnerable in a dire situation and pegging down the middle class now, a situation we haven’t witnessed in our lifetime.

Unfortunately, more venom and lies being spun as we speak. Entitlement, indeed.

cold chicken tikka fillets, soft white wrap, garlic aioli, some basic hot sauce. Tasty and spicy, nothing to mad or time consuming. Probably needed a bit of lettuce and a spoonful of coleslaw.
I had the leftover prosciutto with some cheese, tomato, peppers, onion and pesto on a roll. It wasn't anything fancy, yet it filled a hole.

We're off out for an Indian this (early) evening and then a few drinks, so I didn't want to spoil my appetite.

Nice, what's your go to Indian dish? I tend to try and finish the night late if I've been on the lager, otherwise it bloats me and I struggle supping.

I love an achari, which has pickled spices that give it quite a unique taste - spicy but tangy and sourish. It isn't that common, so isn't on many menus.

The Light of Bengal does a phenomenal chicken tikka and king prawn one though, which is laden with onions and other vegetables too.

I like a murghi massala as well, which is a special massala sauce, lots of mince meat, vegetables and your chosen meat or vegetable.

Many moons ago, my friend had the Royal Tandoori on Smithdown Road, and he would pretty much recommend stuff that wasn't the norm.*

Lots of vegetable sides, poppadoms and whatnot too.

*more Indian traditional dishes.

Just had a couple of thin steaks with new potatoes and salad, over did the seasoning a tad but went down well, was going to have them last night but got takeaway instead, if we get a good result today this may become a match ritual!.
