The degree to which the media and some other teams fans underrate Pickford is crazy. He plays in a clearly worse team with far less protection and yet has been excellent.
On this weeks Overlap episode Carragher was bemoaning the standard of goalkeeping in the PL in general. Said Raya and Alisson were miles ahead, then behind maybe Martinez or Pickford, but used our team being crap for him not being up there with the best, like that even matters?

Not sure I've ever seen a footballer get called out as much as Pickford, every year it starts off with it being time for a new No1 for England, its become the most repetitive thing in football..

Being a keeper in a poorer side should show folks how well you can do more often and under more pressure. All very well being at a top team like RS for example, where you`re not facing too many shots regularly because teams are too scared to commit to attacking in fear of getting picked off on the counter attack.

in the top teams there is just as much pressure tho albeit of a diff nature as you need to save the few shots taken or not make any silly costly errors
ramsay couldnt hack it at arsenal even tho they were calling him the new pickford
i suspect that pickford gets a lot more respect once we start winning things and not fighting relegation

If Alisson is such a great goalkeeper, then why did he concede about 90 goals that time Roma played Liverpool in the CL? Different gravy when playing for a side against a better team.
Pickford is as good as anyone in the league, and his stats consistently show that (and that’s been playing for a poor team for seasons).

Without Pickford, we'd have been relegated twice over; he pretty much saved us. The RS media can talk him down as much as they like... we know!
