New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Just some thoughts after my first game at HDS yesterday.

Decided to walk it from Queens square bus station as I used to walk from my place to Goodison if the weather was nice (as it's only 25 mins) I enjoy the walk as more and more fans start to appear and The Grand Old Lady comes into view as you're heading down Priory Road 😭

Anyway, it took me about 35 mins at a quick pace. I enjoyed the walk, but may go for the shuttle bus next time
There was a great moment as I was walking in front of two Mansfield fans as we got onto Waterloo Road. One said to the other "Where abouts is it?" just as the stadium came into view. "There it is" the other fella said before the first replied "F****n' 'ell!" :D

The stadium itself and the surrounding ground is stunning. I got there about an hour and a half before kick-off so I could have a good walk around the site and it was great. Had no problems getting in or getting food or drink, but as I say, II was there pretty early. I did notice how few urinals there are in the men's rooms though as others have mentioned. Hope the club look into this sooner rather than later.

The concourses and stairwells could use a lick of paint as it still looks a bit unfinished in those parts, a minor gripe, sure, but would do wonders.

I sat in the upper north stand near the western corner.
I was slightly concerned about the view when booking the tickets with how high up I was, but it was fine. Had a good view of everything. (Yes the steward moved his head before the match started!)
Appreciated that little bit of extra legroom when seated, not a huge amount, but enough to stop people trampling on my feet as they moved past to their seats.

Getting out of the stadium itself wasn't too bad, but there was definitely some bottle necking walking along the north side. They had a 3rd of the walkway fenced off, some lad moved one of the temporary fences and everyone started walking through there.

As others have mentioned, they definitely need some better lighting along the Regent street area. There was another bad bottleneck of fans at the bridge, so I headed down Walter street to the left and the lighting there was even worse. A few people had their phone lights on.
Not much the club itself can do about these two issues, but the council definitely need to look at the lighting in the area for night events.

It will be interesting to see how the area develops over the coming years as new business open up and more renovations happen due to the stadium bringing more people to the area. The area outside of the stadium is a bit grim at the moment. Lots of crumbling warehouses and the like for the moment, will be great to see the place lit up with more businesses.

Overall, a very positive experience. Some teething issues for sure in regards to ticketing and people getting into the ground, plus some other bits I have mentioned, but over all a great experience.

Have some of you been asleep for the last few years or wha?

The away fans for every single league cup game, whatever league they are in, have always made more noise than us, even at Goodison.

The evertonian crowd was full of kids and families who normally don’t get a ticket, as is the norm with league cup, which doesn’t help the atmosphere.

Seriously, what’s wrong with some of you.

BMD is gonna be very loud and lively when we play any big team. Brighton are a tin pot no mark club and fans, big day out for them still, and we soon shut them up once we got a grip of the game.

As for this bollox about away fans owning the ground……Christ, it’s pathetic, no body near me gives two frigs about that.

I walked past the Mansfield fans on the North stand at full time. Heard one of them say “biggest library in the country this” a few us replied basically saying the same thing “we’re playing Mansfield mate, we’re not arsed”

That’s all I could think. Not even remotely bothered about their thoughts on the atmosphere - especially when they started singing that the ground is a sh**hole. No one actually thinks that, whatever their views of Everton.

Spot on, it’s like people have forgot what Goodison was like. Why would BMD be any different, we are the same quiet unarsed divvies at both!

Didn’t think much of the light show as the teams were lining up last night, I’d have thought the pitch would be illuminated normally and the scene lighting used in the stands.
Was looking quite dark on the TV and throwing players shadows all over the place.

I saw a Brighton fan post a message in their forum about the Everton Way and it was something along the lines of it’s not a good idea to have it on the ground with people walking all over it as it will get damaged and they learnt their lesson and put it on the wall instead. As I was queuing for my gate in the south stand I was looking down at the various stones and messages and some of them already look quite dirty and weathered. I mean I guess over time if so many people are trampling over it that’s bound to happen.

Preki end, Barry Horne South stand, East Gbamin, West Delle Ali Area
The North stand = The away fans are too visible on the telly stand.

The East stand = The far too close to the massive slave built wall stand.

The South stand = The wrong font used for the stadium sponsor stand.

The West stand = The far too close to the wind turbine stand.

Sorted 😉 @davek?
