Just some thoughts after my first game at HDS yesterday.
Decided to walk it from Queens square bus station as I used to walk from my place to Goodison if the weather was nice (as it's only 25 mins) I enjoy the walk as more and more fans start to appear and The Grand Old Lady comes into view as you're heading down Priory Road
Anyway, it took me about 35 mins at a quick pace. I enjoyed the walk, but may go for the shuttle bus next time

There was a great moment as I was walking in front of two Mansfield fans as we got onto Waterloo Road. One said to the other "Where abouts is it?" just as the stadium came into view. "There it is" the other fella said before the first replied "F****n' 'ell!"
The stadium itself and the surrounding ground is stunning. I got there about an hour and a half before kick-off so I could have a good walk around the site and it was great. Had no problems getting in or getting food or drink, but as I say, II was there pretty early. I did notice how few urinals there are in the men's rooms though as others have mentioned. Hope the club look into this sooner rather than later.
The concourses and stairwells could use a lick of paint as it still looks a bit unfinished in those parts, a minor gripe, sure, but would do wonders.
I sat in the upper north stand near the western corner.
I was slightly concerned about the view when booking the tickets with how high up I was, but it was fine. Had a good view of everything. (Yes the steward moved his head before the match started!)
Appreciated that little bit of extra legroom when seated, not a huge amount, but enough to stop people trampling on my feet as they moved past to their seats.
Getting out of the stadium itself wasn't too bad, but there was definitely some bottle necking walking along the north side. They had a 3rd of the walkway fenced off, some lad moved one of the temporary fences and everyone started walking through there.
As others have mentioned, they definitely need some better lighting along the Regent street area. There was another bad bottleneck of fans at the bridge, so I headed down Walter street to the left and the lighting there was even worse. A few people had their phone lights on.
Not much the club itself can do about these two issues, but the council definitely need to look at the lighting in the area for night events.
It will be interesting to see how the area develops over the coming years as new business open up and more renovations happen due to the stadium bringing more people to the area. The area outside of the stadium is a bit grim at the moment. Lots of crumbling warehouses and the like for the moment, will be great to see the place lit up with more businesses.
Overall, a very positive experience. Some teething issues for sure in regards to ticketing and people getting into the ground, plus some other bits I have mentioned, but over all a great experience.
