New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

It's fair to say now after a few games have passed and the novelty of the stadium has begun to fade - at least slightly - realities are beginning to bite.

Goodison was a menacing stadium for away teams, and it's going to take a long time to replicate it at what looks to be a more neutrally laid out and anodyne new stadium.
Based purely on my one visit on Sunday, menacing may not be the word that could be applied to our new home. Im talking of the acoustics from the section where the away support is housed is extremely audible. Away teams could well be emboldened. Two games in and both Brighton and Mansfield fans claiming they out shouted us. Im not sure about that in that travelling fans of all teams generally are vocal most of the time, but in doing so are unlikely to hear the resident supporters.

Our record at Goodison in recent years was not good at all, other than at the back end of the season when we were in relegation trouble. Of course if we had won more home games, we would not have been in trouble in the first place. So I don't agree with this idea teams were afraid of coming to Goodison and we're losing that.
I think it was a menacing stadium. Unfortunately in latter years when we weren’t playing well our own team could find it more menacing than the opposition at times……

My 3rd time at BMD last night ,after Roma and Brighton .919 bus from Lime St. worked well and on the return the buses were waiting at the back of the Titanic. Journey to town took no more than 10/12 minutes as they had coned off bus lanes which I don't think they did for the other games. Bit dangerous walking up Walter St. for the buses as there is very little street lighting.
Tried the food offering for the first ( and probably last ) time . Steak pie tasted like it had been sat there since Brighton . Pint of Bud was tepid and flat . £12+ is taking the proverbial .
A few people round me were smoking and vaping and one guy was sat with a pint. Some of the stewards are hopeless.

I didn't go on Sunday, but the Mansfield fans were the loudest away fans I've heard against us. To me they sounded a lot louder than any opposition at Goodison. Could be the fact that it was a big allocation for a cup game but most likely the stadium acoustics.

If they're that loud, as home fans, in the big games, we will be much louder.

Not to disrespect Mansfield (and like all of us I'd love to win this competition), but it's the lesser of the three competitions we're in and against a third tier side. We were cruising in 3rd gear, and yesterday was another good chance for many of us to visit the new ground for the first time. So the football might not have been as engaging as it would usually be.

All of this is only an issue for those watching on telly isn’t it. Like most ST holders, I’m not arsed about what it looks like on Sky. The stadium is magnificent, whether it looks it on TV or not.
It feeds back into each other, they're not discrete.

Looks like Mansfield didnt sell the full allocation and the way the blocks work, a block of seats inbetween two stairways is 2 different block numbers
If this is the case and it should be, why did they have a huge bank of seats empty on the upper stand? Note; no need for mass empty seats on the lower level. Segregation argument doesn't add up

I think Everton fans made a racket like. I'm not sure audability is an issue.

But visually we're nowhere near best served by the way the camera angles are with regard to the positioning of away.

Christ, you talk some plums.

You’ve spoiled what should have been a fantastic thread with your constant faux outrage.
Prior to it being the 'Hill Dickinson' the account you are replying to was up in arms about the historical aspect of the Bramley Moore Dock and it's associations with the slave trade from over two centuries ago.
This is an account that referred to 'Merseybeat' as 'Mersey sound'.
If you fancy a real laugh, give this a whirl.

He's all over the show in that thread. Pretty much ends up calling every player out as not worthy and attacks the manager for getting lucky all the way to the final in 5 consecutive tournaments (only winning the three).

It's a parody account, occasionally very funny.

Wind turbines, perceptions of rangers associations, phenomenals, southgates, the list is endless.

Some people don't deserve good things.

No doubt in a couple of years Goodison will be talked about as a fortress where we won every game, sung for 90 minutes straight and had opposition crying before they left the tunnel

The reality being that much of the last decade at Goodison was one of the easiest places to come in the league.

Looking at all the absolutely ruined buildings around it... I wonder what the obsession is with buying nelson dock?

Everton could redevelop loads around it for a fraction of the price.

I know TFG have already done a feasibility study on nelson dock for an indoor arena, just seems daft now I've been
