2025/26 Dwight McNeil

….if he’s a squad player then it’s an indication that we’ve improved.

Moyes will need numbers this season to cover injuries/suspension and manage games. McNeil hasn’t gone from decent to bad, he’s a good one to have around.
I see the point, but he's one of the few players on the fringes that we have who we could sell for a reasonable PSR profit

I'm not desperate that we sell him, but it would surprise me to get to the end of the window having sold nobody at all and he seems like the most likely.

His first start of the season wasn't it? Only had 20 mins or so before it?

Had a bit of a stinker, but really don't like how he's becoming a boo boy - particularly on social media.

Short memories.
Not from me, I have always booed him!

His stats are good tho. I can’t be arsed finding it but his stats are probably why he gets in the side, I think our attacking play goes up with him in the side. Somewhat obviously?

It's surely just natural evolution of the team - as new, better players come in it shows where the levels of the current squad are, especially in mid-to-forward areas. He struggled last night for sure, and his languid style can be deceiving, however he'll need to step up ( in the way that Keano and Jimmy Garner have) if he want's to be considered first 11. That said, football is no longer an 11 man game. In virtually every game every team utilises between 13-16 players these days.

I think this will be his last season with us. He is going to be down in the pecking order not much game time. Yes he has a cracking shot on him now and then but other than that he’s nowhere half the time headless chicken

I don't think anyone is being a boo boy to him. He didn't have a good game in what should have been an opportunity to shine. He now has strong competition for the positions he can play in. He has to do better.

Think he's getting a disproportionate amount of stick - mainly on social media to be fair. Yeah, bad game but let's factor context eh.

Think I was one of the first suggesting we should cash in recently.

Not because I don’t rate him, or to be negative towards him.

But he’s one of the very few sellable assets we have in squad where we won’t overly miss him.

If that money could then be used on a better calibre RB & CM, it’s worth it…

This is stats nonsense for last year, specifically for assists, passing and chance creation, i think this is what i saw which made me note he does contribute once hes on the pitch. There is some variations in his contributions for the important bits are the asissts, pass completion rate and crosses IMO. (terrible at crossing it would seem)

apologies for veering into apologetic Dwight land, but hes not awful , statistically hes quite useful, just looks a bit useless in his play, he also needs to get lifting he's so lightweight IMO.

Sometimes I think it's a bit harsh to expect players that haven't played for a while as a starter to come in and suddenly be electric in cup games against minnows.
