New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton have said this will deffo happen over time. It’s not so far because they wanted to ensure signage was clear while fans got used to the stadium.

No doubt there’ll be loads.

We are here for the next 50 plus years.

We’ve got time for all that stuff. Plus sorting out food etc.

It’s a bit like when college campuses don’t pave paths and then see how students travel around and through. And once they find that out paths are laid.

It’s sensible.
Actually on this note I do think there is so element of the desire path concept going on. Or at least that’s how you’d imagine clubs would approach this.

New ground, new match day routine. Don’t deliver everything until you see how stuff pans out, where pinch points are etc.

the concourse area needs more to it, there should be at least High tables or something for people to stand around, if people got their beer and there was somewhere to go, I am sure they would
Agreed. There seems to have been lots of effort and thought into the posh areas and by an large I think the feedback has been much better than the areas us plebs go. You can see where they've focused effort in the last few weeks of the fit out prior to opening, which economically makes sense.

Now they MUST listen to feedback in the other areas and address it whilst there's still that new stadium goodwill.

I don't think people will turn against HD as outside and in your seat it's fantastic. It's just that bit in-between 👍

This. Outside is unbelievable, watching from your seat is incredible, it really is just the inbetween

Anyone else think derby days gonna be fun?

Was surprised that all fans came in from the same side, was expecting the away fans to be segregated
The trek back on Regent Road as you turn left out of the concourse takes you past the large line of coaches parked up waiting for the passengers. Away fans will be shoulder to shoulder with home fans. Will be interesting when teams with a reputation turn up.

Few pointers from my first experience with the ground last night

First off, props to Arriva and Stagecoach for the speed and consistency of the shuttle buses to the ground

2nd was how quick getting through security on the main gates was, I’m used to that as I have to for Comic Cons so nice to see it done efficiently here

3rd was the sheer size of the plaza/walkway around the ground, made a massive difference to the experience after 25 years of bottlenecking around Goodison

4th the ease of the ticket scanning to get in, as I mentioned elsewhere last night, was first time using it since the Doncaster game last year and was just as quick, also helpful having the stewards there to guide people struggling with it

5th the inside concourse, absolutely huge and easy to walk around, was a bit disappointed that the kiosk I went to had issues with the beer pumps but at least they had readily to hand stop gaps with the cans so was able to get a cold pint (or half pint as it were), no more lukewarm guff

6th the seating, great to see hand rails everywhere going up the stands, given I still struggle on stairwells 2 years on from my knee injury this was a godsend, I could actually balance myself going up and down with out looking like I was crawling plus having an extra few inches of leg room helped, I didn’t feel squashed or penned in at any point

Overall it was an unbelievable experience, I kept looking around at times almost in disbelief that we were all actually sitting in it after watching the whole thing come to life over the last few years. Get the few teething issues sorted and we’re kosher

The problem is you can't charge a fortune for premium areas if general admission areas are fantastic too. However, the congestion and queuing in the upper south stand is horrendous at present. Hopefully that will calm down over time, with more familiarity for the fans and staff. They can also easily increase the number of urinals in most male toilets with lots of wall-space unused in the ones I've seen, so hopefully that will be addressed as it would improve queue times for those.

That one is a very strange decision, I am no sure who decides these things, but at almost every other premier league ground the away fans are not really visible on TV cameras. I am not sure how easy this is to fix, can the camera positions be moved to the other side of the stadium?
Did not notice it against Brighton but last night watching the highlights it stuck out
Maybe because Brighton fans were wearing blue it never was so obvious

There’s a few things I’d be really picky about. People can feel free to disagree.

The stairs and entrances behind the goals seem strangely positioned, there should be a hub of fans behind the goal but instead a large portion of it is cut away with accessible seating at the front and then the stairs and exits. The stairs also seem extremely wide and are very visible almost segmenting the stadium. It’s the same at the middle of the main stand. The areas where we’re getting the most fans closes to the pitch are bizarrely the corners and areas extending out from them.

The away fans position. Who thought of this? They’re prime position on tv.

The advertising strips. At one point last night Hill Dickinson was going across the screen so quickly it was difficult to even look at the screen.

I know there Walter always going to be things that are different to Goodison and potentially worse in some cases but I hope the club remains open to continuous improvement and trying to fix what doesn’t work.

Absolutely. We want to see walls of Everton fans celebrating, not the away fans, and those massive stairways and empty access/disabled areas in South Stand really dilute the wall of Blues and look terrible

They’re in both south and north stands and also in the main stand opposite the tv camera. Literally any close up of the action we’re seeing massive empty access areas rather than fans behind the goal or behind the dug outs.
