Second Match Experience – Getting into the Rhythm
Had a bit of a wobble last night with timings—a meeting in Manchester meant I couldn’t get the train until 5:30, so I was a bit concerned. Still, made it to the ground by 7 and went straight in. Grabbed some cheese and bacon bites for dinner (solid choice under pressure!).
It was busy, no doubt, but I was in my seat in good time after a decent stride up the escalators in the South Stand. Only my second game, so I’m still adjusting to the extra crowd and buzz—but it’s starting to feel familiar.
One thing that surprised me: loads of people still heading into the neighbouring pubs at 6:45. No idea how they expected to get in by kick-off! The digital tickets work fine, but I reckon a fair few are still figuring them out. Once that’s second nature, things will flow better.
Queues for food were alright—though if you leave it to the last minute, you’re asking for trouble. It’s a proper experience now. The view was incredible, and the floodlights and special effects were top notch again. Plus, we played well!
Getting away from the stadium was a breeze too—back home a good 30 minutes quicker than I’d manage from Goodison, and I live 50 miles away. That’s a game-changer.
Only downside… I’d knackered my back playing golf earlier this week and couldn’t stand up quick enough for either goal—missed them both
