Fine is accurate...I think it's more when you look at him, you can see he's not currently at the same level as the likes of some of the players behind him now. If you look at KDH, Gana, Grealish, Ndiaye, and Dibling as the likely 5 behind him, he's the one that sticks out as not on the same level just yet. I think he can get there, but if we're really pushing on this season, he'll need to elevate his game quickly.
Think he certainly needs a bit of adjustment but the signs certainly look promising.

Beto looked far more dangerous imho, and had 3 decent chances to score in the time he was on, probably should have had two in all honesty. I don’t recall Barry getting himself into one baring a pass that arguably would have put him in and header he got horribly wrong (albeit under pressure)

Can see why Moyes would prefer Beto atm, although how long that lasts will depend on how quick Barry improves and how many chances Beto misses.

Barry has far better link up player than beto. Beto didnt offer the same when he came on. His chances were because of the Mansfield team being tired.

Throw back to the 80’s.

It's always interesting to learn of how we're perceived by other clubs
Which forum is that ? I’ve read nothing like that at all from the forums I’ve seen
It's on a thread on Grand Old Team. It's pretty much the only negative comment among dozens of positive ones. There's always one person on a forum who loves a dig.

We actually have players playing football.

Players with a good first touch. Individuals with patience and guile.

The more these lot play and train together, the more effective they will be.

Trying not to get to ahead of myself but the bar has been so low for the last few years.

We genuinely have a set of players here that can entertain. Enjoy it. Stop moaning.
Seeing how poor McNeil was last night compared to our new signings made me realise how bad we’ve had it for the last few years. Let’s hope we’ve turned a corner now and we can enjoy some decent football in our stunning new stadium.

Good win. Controlled the game, save for 5 mins at the end of the first half. Looked patient on the ball, created lots of chances and could have been out of sight by half time, but the possession took it's toll on them and they couldn't keep up. 2-0 flattered them, should have been 4 or 5.

And the goals we scored were lush, proper passing football. Enjoyed watching it not gonna lie.

Clamour to jump on TB is a bit odd, thought he was one of the best players on the pitch first half, his runs and link up were play showed guile and intelligence and he should have had a goal had Armstrong squared it. Second half he dropped off a little but he'd have scored the Beto chances and had a hat trick. Then what would youse have all been saying? Some of his decision making needs improving (few times he needed to keep the ball, win a foul and get us up the pitch, rather than carry it and try to score) but to be expected for a 21 year old.

Elsewhere though Charly was excellent, but he should stand out against this opposition. Grealish good but probably should do better in a few moments, however you can see how much the team enjoys playing with him, lend him the ball and be safe with it. Coleman was fantastic as well, wily old fox and such a solid defender. Good to see Dibling come on too, however he didn't get out of first gear and looked like he was NEA.

MoMs are either Armstrong or Garner, both were fantastic and showed Mansfield the levels. Linked up really well with eachother. I know is only league one oppo but Armstrong looks good enough to keep around the squad this year. However MoM for me is Garner. Actually ran the game, winning possession back, controlling the tempo, such quality on the ball. That's his best game for us imo and showed something I didn't know he had. Really really impressive

Oh and McNeill poooweeee that was a generational stinker of a performance.

Is his game just one touch out of his feet and cross it? Looked very limited beyond that. And some people think he's our most creative player because he got assists in a Sean Dyche 4-4-2.

I'd still keep him around the squad but think he probably knows that he's not going to get anywhere near the starting XI on that form

Beto came on fresh against a tiring league one side. Barry is settling into what Moyes wants from him, he's involved more in build up, Beto is more the player that gets the final kick. Or at least tries to.

Agreed on Garner, considering he's had two at LB and then a few new faces and into MF with an 18 year old for a competitive game, he's been a revelation. Preparedness to apply himself and get on. A good attitude. Always handy to have a bit of versatility.

McNeill tried, but I thought was rusty as sin, miles off the pace, when he's good he's amazing, when he throws a stinker in it's a bad un. Mad thing is, his dead ball stuff was very good, at least two corners were very dangerous, I'm thinking the Tarkowski header to side netting and the Barry header he looped over. We complain we have no quality deliveries. When he dials in that left foot he looks awesome, if he had a right foot similar he'd be playing for Brazil (when he's fully fit and sharp). Nice to have options, nice to not be reliant on having to wait it out with him to come good, and with a host of new players they're all learning each others games. Happier with McNeill than Lindstrom or Harrison. This is the price of progress.

It's a long season, we want cup runs, having players without an entire season in their legs will pay dividends. Seasons 10 days old, reckon we still do some business, RB is becoming a concern because Keane hasn't put a foot wrong, Tarkowski seems getting back to his razor sharp best, I reckon we're all enamoured with big Jake (I know I am!) and we've Branthwaite to come back. In defence, our cup runeth over.
I suppose having players in form and ready to play is a nice problem to have, maybe another cup game see's much more changes.
Not used to having a few players to use and not being concerned about their ability. Dare I say, 'good times'.

Steady now!

I completely agree, having the likes of McNeill and Armstrong as our squad players is a sign of how far we have come in a year

Beat these at a canter... Fortunately we have better players now to do it at a canter. If we had drawn this team with players from our recent past this would be very difficult day.

14 weeks. We finished up in May, let a load go, slowly filled out the squad. We've won two games in August, first time since when? 5 days of the window left, might have players on the books in excess and look to sell or loan one or two.

Considering the incessant and nagging moaning that's been done, seems a few with the faith and those at the club doing the business can feel pretty good about how things have panned out.

Oh oh oh, and last nights referee didn't give a handball penalty against us. Novelty!

It is infuriating trying to wrestle some of the doomsayers back into reality without sounding like we are glossing too much, but I for one am delighted with the work we have done since May.

The way we played football yesterday was especially pleasing. Scored some proper, modern football goals - possession side to side, work the overloads. Exciting times!

Definitely need a few extra in defensive positions, but I'm confident we can do that
