I was sat in Village Street tonight and I have to say I was so impressed with it. Everything from the welcome we got off the staff to going up to village street, it just felt special. Like everywhere that people have said it seemed that queues form at certain places but then when you carry onto the next bar there’s only a few there.
We had a beer in the queens head (does anyone know why they called it that?) then one in the Prince Rupert. Asked for a San Miguel but it had ran out, then asked for a Stella which they said had just gone so I wasn’t too impressed by that but again hopefully teething problems.
We walked down to an area with a stage and grabbed a seat where we cashed in our food token on chicken tenders which were lovely, certainly better than old greasy sausage rolls and plastic hotdogs at Goodison. We grabbed our padded seat and watched the game. Loads of room for your knees and a drinks holder in the back of the seat in front of you, also loads of room under your seat for a coat or whatever.
At half time we went down for a wee and again as someone has said, a big queue for the first toilet around the corner but a 10 second walk I saw another 4 signs for men’s toilets. When we went back to the bar area they had put out a tray of free sandwiches, grabbed a free cheese and onion butty and bought a bottle of coke, sorry Pepsi.
Won the game and headed out. Congestion getting out the actual gates could be a problem in the future. Of course they can’t knock the dock wall down but they may need another entrance or two. Also, onto Sandhills, I was impressed this time around with the organisation however it still isn’t right. Tonight was a pleasant night. Expecting people to stand for half an hour plus to wait for trains in cold, wind and rain will be a nightmare, especially after a defeat, I don’t know what the answer is other than to tell people to head into town, grab a beer somewhere and wait for the queues to die down. Again, easier said than done.
All in all, £50 each that cost me and my pal and it was one of the best experiences I have had with Everton. I loved it. I actually felt special in that area, just to think it’s usually about £300 and you get all your ale included though is a bit mad. I think they will have to reduce the prices. Let say ticket was with £100, food ticket was worth about £7, so you’re defo not drinking £200 quids worth of ale so really it’s still quite a luxury.
I’m gutted we have Wolves next as really I would of loved to of done that again, fingers crossed we get through and get someone crap again at home.
