New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

The catering/drinks thing will surely sharpen up with time. Staff mostly looked shell-shocked to me, plus probably a lot more people wanting to try everything for novelty value etc. No Queing barriers made it all quite chaotic. The upper south concourse is far too tight for comfort or convenience. The Island bars might have seemed a good idea but they completely hog the whole space and stifle any circulation due to the fairly narrow spaces formed between.... once again, tried to walk around to South east corner at half time to see friends..... literally had to give up. I've only tried a few toilets and one near section 205 literally only had 4 urinals, 2 cubicles, but 4 wash basins, with lots of wall space completely unused.... could've easily doubled the number of urinals. I'm not sure I've ever seen so few in a stadium toilet. Even the larger toilet further around the stand had far fewer urinals than it could've comfortably handled. Hence Queues everywhere. Even had a clothes stall with no customers, taking-up valuable peeing space. Doesn't surprise me the away supporters reported fans using sinks in their section. They'll be needing an upgrade before too long I think. I think it'll all settle down, but that will probably be as much to do with a lot of people giving up on the food/drink offering, or attempting to move around the concourse. I am hoping the South stand's congestion is more to do with too many people from elsewhere wanting to explore it as a one-off.

Friends in club view also reporting congestion and not being able to get food (they've already paid for). So it would be interesting to see how much concourse space has actually been allocated per person.

There were a lot of unhappy punters where I am in the South stand. The self service bit ran out ale and those who had been queuing for a beer were getting to the front of the queue only to be told they had run out. Don’t know why one of the staff didn’t come out and convey the bad news to everyone.

Yeah it’s something like that. I can’t remember where I read now. I know the ratio allowed in lower leagues (and places like Germany) is something like 1.8:1. I’m sure I read the rules are looking to change ahead of the euros but can’t remember where I read it now.
When you say "ahead of the euros" are you just using that as a time frame to say 2028? Because you know there is absolutely no chance a UEFA tournament will have standing berths right?

Looking forward to tonight. Full house, no fireworks, no fuss, just a game and the first game under the lights. The hawks, and we know who they are, will be looking for signs of an extremely early end to the new stadium effect with 'Emptihad' equivalent jibes at the ready. They are gonna be disappointed again. COYB!

To clarify, I remember reading when we got the euros that the capacity could be increased to closer to 60k for the tournament.

My assumption is the only way that would be possible is via safe standing by increasing the ratio.

Absolutely no chance. For example the Yellow Wall in Dortmund is not ratioed for Champions League games and they have to revert to 1:1 (one per seat). Likewise for Germany internationals there

There are no guarantees that this will happen. Safe-standing is still in a bit of a trial phase in the UK. Colin Chong hinted a while ago that he didn't think that it would ever be over 1:1. In anycase we reduced our original tread depths to 750mm. This only equates to approx 1.3-1.5:1, but again, they haven't fitted the narrow rail seats to allow that, nor the intermediate step..... so there is little to suggest that they're aiming higher than that at present.

Whatever you read it was either wrong, misleading or you misinterpreted it. There'll be no significant increase in capacity (if ever) for decades imo.
