What it means for us.

Allow me to clarify. We beat our hated rivals, Chesterfield, in the last round. It was a night game. Some Chesterfield fan posted this, claiming we'd trashed their seats. It got traction on social media. The photo is in daylight. No one at Chesterfield FV has mentioned any damage, neither have the police. When asked about it, a local copper who works with Stags away crowds said it was nonsense. Nothing but fake news and typical Spireite skullduggery.
I understand your pain with media BS misrepresentation mate.
Imagine living with the worlds biggest media luvvies as your nearest (and dearest , not !) neighbours.
As long as you guys behave you will have no hassle.
Enjoy the city , it's great , have a sound day , but don't beat us , lol.

Hope you have a good day out and enjoy the new stadium

I’m sure the away end will be bouncing for the whole game and will be mocking us with chants of ‘is this a library’ and ‘shall we sing a song for you’ at times buts I guess that is to be expected in this type of fixture

Can’t wait for the “bantz”

Just hope we don’t lose

Hi, Stags fan here. Can't wait for the big game tomorrow. It's a huge occasion for us.

- 2nd biggest crowd in our history.
- biggest away crowd (apart from finals) in my lifetime - maybe ever, not sure.
- our first visit to your lovely new ground.
- a rare match against Premier League opposition
- will earn us around £250k, the price of a decent striker at our level (so the equivalent of about £40m to you!)

To give you some background - we're a small Midlands club that has only ever played in Tier 2 of the pyramid for a solitary season in the 70s. We average around 7/8000 at home, but this is a relatively new and high level of support, relative to our historic numbers. We're on an upward trajectory, with an owner who genuinely cares and is willing to sensibly spend money on infrastructure and gradually improve all areas. In Nigel Clough, we have about as good a manager as we could hope for. He's the 4th longest serving manager in England and will probably become our longest ever serving manager in the next couple of seasons.

6000 of us will be making the trip tomorrow, which has surprised me tbh. We travel very well for a club our size, averaging over 1000 in League One (more than most of the ex-Prem clubs in that league), but to take this many across the country on a Wednesday night, is phenomenal. You'll hear us loud and clear.

Best of luck in your new ground. I hope it brings you lots of happy memories and becomes the home that Goodison was to you. I'm delighted that we are an early part of its history, under the lights for the first time. Hope to chat to some of your fans pre/post match. Up the Stags! 💛🩵
You didn't do that awful cringey "...fan in peace" nonsense so you are alright in my books.

Still hope we hump you 10 -0 though 👍

So basically Chesterfield are kopites, got it

I always remember Mansfield with a couple of tall blonde haired players. Liam Lawrence being one, cant remember the other. Just googled and saw that was over 20 years ago now 😳

Thank you for your kind, classy and convivial contribution. Frankly, I expect nothing less from a Midlander.

For a League One club to attain a 6,000-strong away following for a match such as this is a stunning feat, particularly given that the match is taking place on a school night.

It sounds like your club is in a great place; let's hope you continue to go from strength to strength.

We hope you enjoy your time in Liverpool, but not too much! 😉

Great effort from both sets of fans tomorrow. Assuming we don't end up having a similar situation to Sunday where the attendance is lower than expected (despite being labelled a sell out) there should be around 52K there.

That's 30K more than Sunderland managed tonight against League One Huddersfield for a good comparison with a PL club playing a L1 Club. Their crowd was around 22K.
Magnificent.

Quite the occasion for you. Hope ypu enjoy the trip and its a good game - but obviously I also hope there's no cup upset either!

Just imagine if it was proper league cup too - with a home and away leg., maybe even replays. Your club would get even more finances from the competition. But the evil corrupt premier league has forced change on all that, to satisfy Sky's evil European cash cow.

Seen quite a few mansfield fans in liverpool today and had a few convos with some of them by concert square. Boss fans. Hope they have a brilliant day out

6039 fans theyre bringing on a wed night league cup game. Some going that for any away following let alone a league 1 team.

Nice payday for the club, hopefully brings in a new player that smashes it for them.
