What it means for us.

Hope you enjoy the game and our City, mate. If you take any photos etc. it would be great if you could post some in the thread below so we can get the away support view of the occasion/stadium. Safe travels ;)

Oh good thinking, the aways section experience. :pint2:

Hi, Stags fan here. Can't wait for the big game tomorrow. It's a huge occasion for us.

- 2nd biggest crowd in our history.
- biggest away crowd (apart from finals) in my lifetime - maybe ever, not sure.
- our first visit to your lovely new ground.
- a rare match against Premier League opposition
- will earn us around £250k, the price of a decent striker at our level (so the equivalent of about £40m to you!)

To give you some background - we're a small Midlands club that has only ever played in Tier 2 of the pyramid for a solitary season in the 70s. We average around 7/8000 at home, but this is a relatively new and high level of support, relative to our historic numbers. We're on an upward trajectory, with an owner who genuinely cares and is willing to sensibly spend money on infrastructure and gradually improve all areas. In Nigel Clough, we have about as good a manager as we could hope for. He's the 4th longest serving manager in England and will probably become our longest ever serving manager in the next couple of seasons.

6000 of us will be making the trip tomorrow, which has surprised me tbh. We travel very well for a club our size, averaging over 1000 in League One (more than most of the ex-Prem clubs in that league), but to take this many across the country on a Wednesday night, is phenomenal. You'll hear us loud and clear.

Best of luck in your new ground. I hope it brings you lots of happy memories and becomes the home that Goodison was to you. I'm delighted that we are an early part of its history, under the lights for the first time. Hope to chat to some of your fans pre/post match. Up the Stags! 💛🩵
Have a great time, 6000 tickets sold is incredible.

Just so I can prepare myself should we be expecting to hear extremely witty and original songs such as “dur dur durr, football in a library”, “your support is f-in sht” and also “woooooah you’re sht ahhhh” when our keeper takes a goal kick?

What was all this about if you don’t mind me asking?

and what are the odds of some of your fans getting a bit giddy with all the excitement and numbers and trying it at BMD?
Allow me to clarify. We beat our hated rivals, Chesterfield, in the last round. It was a night game. Some Chesterfield fan posted this, claiming we'd trashed their seats. It got traction on social media. The photo is in daylight. No one at Chesterfield FV has mentioned any damage, neither have the police. When asked about it, a local copper who works with Stags away crowds said it was nonsense. Nothing but fake news and typical Spireite skullduggery.

You can expect all of those, as well as "we're all from Mansfield, who the f*** are you?", "you've seen the Stags, now f*** off home" and "calm down, calm down". It'll all be light-hearted. Plenty of Stags fans like Everton. My dad followed you ad a kid in the 60s. It's the Reds we don't like, after what Suarez did to us in 2013.

Our fans definitely have a rougher element, but there will be so many daytrippers and family members tomorrow that it won't be like that. I highly doubt it'll get rowdy.

Not reading all that and hope you lose 6-0

Great effort from both sets of fans tomorrow. Assuming we don't end up having a similar situation to Sunday where the attendance is lower than expected (despite being labelled a sell out) there should be around 52K there.

That's 30K more than Sunderland managed tonight against League One Huddersfield for a good comparison with a PL club playing a L1 Club. Their crowd was around 22K.

Cheers mate. It's just random where you're born or how you're raised. I was born and raised a Mansfield fan and tbh I wouldn't want to support a Prem team. I love the accessibility and affordability of lower league football, the community, the huge buzz when things go well for once, etc, etc. Respect to yous too for not being Reds!

Went to the EFL Trophy game at Field Mill last season where the u21s nicked it with a late pen. Have they started work on re-opening the old closed down stand yet ?
