Confirmed Signing Tyler Dibling

To be honest I haven't seen him much so I'm probably doing him a disservice from the occasion I saw him last season when he looked a bit anxious

….he’s a football man, not a smooth operator like Redknapp. Arguably the most successful footballer ever produced by this country and he’s a lad from Croxteth. I think I prefer Rooney’s thoughts on football.

….very unfair comment, he might be academically very bright, he won’t be used to communicating with the media and his responses were measured and thoughtful. He never once gets stuck.

Everything I’ve read about him suggests he’s very much a quiet lad with a close family, he’s coping very well being thrust into a high-profile situation. Good on him.
Funny thing is, saw a few slating the weird video of talking to him whilst walking around the pitch.

Not sure if people realise it's actually a technique to do that when you have someone uncomfortable or nervous to get them to relax and not focus on the camera etc.

Glad we finally got this over the line.

We are now blessed with some proper abundance in the forward department. I am calling it now, one of Ndiaye, Grealish, McNeil and co will get minutes at Central Striker as the inevitable double injury to Beto and Barry come around

Just seen the chairman of Newcastle YASIR AL-RUMAYYAN is at St James after approving the execution of a 15 year old a week earlier.

I hope our owners don't let him anywhere near our stadium.
Interesting stuff.

A) what do you think of Tyler Dibbling?
B) have you discussed the above with your Muslim girlfriend?
C) what does she think of Tyler Dibbling?

You do shorten the PSR period, but that has to be secondary to keeping the lads saleable value high by having more years left if clubs come sniffing.

Interestingly (if you are a bit weird and lonely) a club could claim they had performed an impairment review and no longer consider a players saleable value greater than their book value. You could impair/reduce their book value, essentially taking some of the the amortisation cost early, if you had a year where you had a massive sale with profits. Surprised we haven’t heard of any clubs doing this to smooth profits and losses across the 3 year period.

I did once have the pleasure of sitting in a room with a PL club finance team and their manager going down the squad list, asking them to confirm they did still feel the players were “worth” their book value. The manager, famously aggressive, looked like he wanted to set us all on fire.

On Dibling, I guess he will not yet be on a massive wage; if he is awesome for 2 years, then we will offer a new contract making him our highest paid player, and it will be extended anyway. He won’t sit on the money he is on now for 4 years if he performs.

But would still rather it be 5.
If you check back another couple of pages a poster explained it
If we gave him a 5 yr contract he would be 24 when it finished and if he wanted to walk away he could do so for free
A 4 yr contract means he would be 23 and even if he walked at the end we would get a development fee for him

I know they will be bitter, but the vast majority of Southampton fans comments on Facebook were saying it's a lot of money, questionable attitude, no real end product and that Robinson is the better player. I really hope that is just sour grapes?!
