We have 2 LB at the club its just unfortunate they both got injured at the same time. Bringing in another LB would just be being reactionary to a short term problem.

Our main RB at the minute is a CB. Thats a priority.
The only problem with that is if myklo gets injured again Moyes won’t play the new kid it’ll be Garner at LB, I suppose the rumoured interest in Ake could solve that problem.

I also suspect he may have handed a transfer request in, no other reason why they’d accept a lower bid than the one they rejected 3 weeks ago.

Was the prior bid 37.5 offer million total? Could be why.

They're accepting now, though, because they couldn't create a bigger market for the player and are up against the deadline as they always needed to sell him to buy players.

People massively overcomplicate sell-on fees, but it’s actually dead simple. Basically, when a club puts a sell-on clause in a deal, they get a chunk every single time the player moves clubs for the rest of his career. Doesn’t matter if he’s 18 or 38, if he’s going for £100m or a free transfer to League Two, the original club gets their cut. It’s like a lifetime subscription.
We should be doing it more often when we get a fee for a player.
They surely only get a percentage of what Everton get as a a result of future sales. I.e. If Everton make a profit on the first sale of Dibling to Club 1 Saints get 20% of that. If Everton negotiate a sell on clause with Club 1 in relation to Dibling, then Saints get 20% of anything that represents a profit on what Everton originally paid to Saints and so on and so on.

Think the Saints were also hoping for a bit of a transfer bidding war with other clubs to come in and inflate the fee. We were lucky that never happened.

Fair play to us for holding our nerve but it was a risk imo.

Aznou started training again on Friday, I don't think we know if Moyes will play him or not based on the first two matches.

Nah I reckon they've just realised if they don't sell him they can't strengthen in time and have shat their pants.
Precisely this mate. Tried to flex their muscles to the press in the hope it would trigger an auction for his services, which never came to fruition. Everton played the waiting game and have ultimately won the battle of negotiations

this is the reason. They need players if they want to come back up and no one else with serious interest showed up.

that is why you hire a specific person for negotiations. Bet there was plenty of gossip going around as to whether there would be interest as well.

Not sure he would, going off the interview yesterday he didn’t really want to start Barry said he wanted to give him more time to settle, so I would be pleasantly surprised if he played a (19yr old ?) in such an important position.
