2025/26 Thierno Barry

Had a big part to play in the initial phases for the 2 goals.

As a striker though, I dont see it. Though I ain't seen anything since Lukaku resembling a striker so its no fault of the kid
Had never heard of the lad until we started sniffing around him, first bit I saw of him brought back memories of that ' Onaucha ' matey that we luckily escaped from signing..

Really hope those initial thoughts are proved wrong...

Like you said tho, played his part in both goals, so well done to the lad..

won 55% of aerial duels in his first ever game compared to last week were beto won 42% against two much better CB's than what leeds had - was key in both our goals today retaining the ball under pressure and bring our key players into the game.

crazy to start looking for faults in a player immediately after a win against a team thast been levels above us for years.

Is he going to score 25 prem goals a season ? No but no player who ever would would be signing for us theres probably less then 10 players in world football who can do that.

Lad is young and two seasons ago was playing in Switzerland. but he has a lot of potential and will devlop providing fans font get on his back everytime he plays and doesnt score

Be happy we won a game he played quite well

Did you actually watch the game? He was useless in the air and, for the first, he literally fell over. Brilliant result and brilliant stadium doesn't mean i cannot comment on our new star striker.

The price and whether he was signed to be main striker has absolutely nothing to do with him and shouldn't influence the judging of a young player in their first season in the prem league

Any comment claiming some reading of him as a player right now and whether he will make it or not, I just find dumb. football fans just need to have an opinion on everything and to believe their opinion is important or unique

Hope he does well. Expect he will have bad games and spells and will get plenty wrong. But won't be overly judging him until at least second season.

Edit: and to add, if he is playing poorly and/or not scoring but keeps getting picked that's also not on the player

I do think this is one of those signings we need to hit the ground running though. Would be great if he could make that position his own over the next few weeks.

Exactly. The excuse for Beto was despite the price tag we paid little or nothing up front - whereas this lad actually cost a tidy £sum. Its okay to have some expectations

I would love for us to have found a diamond, but there's nothing there for me. Nothing at all to try and be positive about. No pace, no strength, not good in the air. Who sanctioned this signing?
He is a young player, playing his second game in the Premier League. What was you expecting Pele?
Short memories. Not so long ago we had Maupay playing upfront on his own. Now your description adequately fits him.
No problem with Beto and Barry rotating upfront, because at least the attack has a focal point and there will be more than enough goals coming frim a midfield of Grealish, Ndiaye, DH and Alcarez.

I remember Tommy Lawton describing how the manager (Theo Kelly?) hung a ball from the rafter, swung it and made Lawton jump to head it and every time Lawton cocked up the manager walloped him with a stick, which is why Tommy was such a good header of the ball.

Something for Moyes to consider with young Thierno.
So you're saying it might have worked with Patterson if Dyche used a stick instead of the palm🤔
