2025/26 Thierno Barry

…..looks like he has a prodigious leap from a standing start. Not convinced he’s a good header of the ball yet but it could be something we look to exploit. His career is a quick upward curve, let’s hope he’s a real find.

I remember Tommy Lawton describing how the manager (Theo Kelly?) hung a ball from the rafter, swung it and made Lawton jump to head it and every time Lawton cocked up the manager walloped him with a stick, which is why Tommy was such a good header of the ball.

Something for Moyes to consider with young Thierno.

….how times change. I had the good fortune to play for a team managed by Dave Hickson in the 70s and he was totally nuts, I was only 18 but we trained midweek on a concrete pitch because it had floodlights and he’d dive full length if he had a chance of heading a goal. Different era with those blokes.

Thing is, some players like DCL have huge aerial dominance but don’t exploit it. They’re all about winning the ball but don’t head it. If you look at Tim Cahill, he’s supreme because he has that ridiculous leap but he’s then composed and directs his header, eyes open he picked his spot. Ridiculously good.

Winning headers and scoring headers are different, let’s hope this lad watches the Cahill videos.

Strangely I got the same from Alcaraz at Newcastle last season. He headed it firmly and got on top of the ball.

Michael Keane, for all his other faults is good at it too.

I would love for us to have found a diamond, but there's nothing there for me. Nothing at all to try and be positive about. No pace, no strength, not good in the air. Who sanctioned this signing?

Agree. Maybe he's composed in front of goal but will have to wait and find out. What got me was how he seemed to jump lameley at the defender rather than try and challenge for the ball.

won 55% of aerial duels in his first ever game compared to last week were beto won 42% against two much better CB's than what leeds had - was key in both our goals today retaining the ball under pressure and bring our key players into the game.

crazy to start looking for faults in a player immediately after a win against a team thast been levels above us for years.

Is he going to score 25 prem goals a season ? No but no player who ever would would be signing for us theres probably less then 10 players in world football who can do that.

Lad is young and two seasons ago was playing in Switzerland. but he has a lot of potential and will devlop providing fans font get on his back everytime he plays and doesnt score

Be happy we won a game he played quite well
