2025/26 Jack Grealish

Really strong holding the ball in tight spaces with a defender climbing on his back. Never saw that much at City as would have been instructed to keep the ball moving and wouldn’t often get in those situations - must not lose ball. Love that he didn’t play like he’d been brought in just to add something going forward. Got involved whenever he could attacking and defending.

Actually mad how that bit of extra talent with the football gives players so much time, can get their head up, playing in slow motion compared some of our recent players who need a couple of attempts to stop the ball bouncing. Seeing defenders back off him if they aren’t touch tight when he gets the ball is hilarious. Not used to that.

Made up for him really. Seems a very likeable bloke; he and his family must be buzzing tonight with their decision.

Just next level composure with a football.

We haven’t see anyone this confident with the football at our club for a long time. There’s way more to come as well, nowhere near fit.

If he gets back to his best he’s basically the best version of a Pienaar type you’ll see. Someone who doesn’t get all the stats and who xG weirdos will tell you isn’t efficient enough. Yet he’s always the one who’ll play the pass before the pass, or who is instrumental in creating the chance.

Delighted he got two assists today though, just never looks pressed whatsoever. More please.

- Wait until we see defenders literally bounce off Dibling ;)

And he is always the one teammates feel safe to get the ball to when under pressure.

Him and Ndiaye are fantastic outlets for the rest of our players who don’t like having the ball.

Yet they are both so different. Ndiaye drops his shoulder and spins out before bursting into the space. Grealish kind of just stands it up, and it feels like he has all the time in the world to make his decision.

They very rarely even bother trying to tackle him. Just try and force him to pass it on.

Once he’s fully fit and firing it’s gonna be some ride watching him this year 😂, especially after what we’ve been served up.

All gonna fall in love with a loan player again aren’t we 🥲.

I hope we have set aside the rumoured £50m to sign him. Riots if not, 😂

Evening Toffees...

Not even 20% of the full vault here...

A self confessed former reds view on the man, the myth, the Grealish.

….have to say, I thought this lad was a hugely overestimated and couldn’t believe City bought him, never mind paying what they did for him

Eggs said:

….hugely overrated at Villa and doubts over his motivation, massive swerve for a very lucky footballer.

Eggs said:

agree. I’m not particularly bothered by his arrival but his answers to questions sounded sincere, not soundbites. Could be a popular addition to the dressing room. Hopefully he now does his talking on the pitch, Moyes is clearly a long time admirer and talk of him being played centrally...

Eggs said:

….what a nonsense, Grealish isn’t and has never been prime Messi. There is enough doubt about the player for people to have differing opinions.

Eggs said:

….i’m in the ‘not bothered’ camp, so I suppose you can count me as a ‘fool’. Saying that, encouraged Moyes wants him and encouraged at reports that he’s particularly keen on joining us. I’m not ‘excited’ by the deal but it’s a loan, it raises the clubs profile and hopefully he’s the success...

Eggs said:

….never been a footballer I liked

Eggs said

….because I want effective footballers. The lad has quality but I don’t see him busting a gut to hit the box when the ball is on the other flank, getting in goalscoring positions and finishing in the 6 yard box. If I’m a striker, I’d find him frustrating to play alongside. I watched him closely...

Eggs said:

….never been a fan, even at Villa. He’s been found out at City and it doesn’t in the least surprise me as I posted at the time how overrated he was.

Eggs said:

I’ve posted for many years on here how overrated I think Grealish is based purely on watching him for Villa and City. It’s an opinion I hold

Eggs said:

….for me, it would be another underwhelming addition. Two acquisitions who play with socks around their shins.

Eggs said:

….just as likely a complete waste of monies, I don’t think he’d be even nearly our 2nd best player. Hopefully the report that we’re not interested is accurate, bloke is hugely overrated (in my opinion).

Eggs said:

….i just don’t think he’s very good, but i suppose we need squad fillers.

Eggs said:

….Manchester City comparison; Sterling 91 goals in 225 games (a goal every 2.4 games) Grealish 12 goals in 94 games (a goal every 7.8 games) Grealish cost £100m, crazy.

Eggs said:

…I wasn’t a fan even when he was at Villa. I watched him closely in his last game for them at Goodison and I was very disappointed. I have always thought he was very lucky to get the move he got.

Eggs said:

….i’d be totally amazed if this fella is remotely on our radar.

Eggs said:

….we have limited spend, we have priority positions to fill, we have limited loan contracts and yet we’re linked with a mega-expensive player who plays in a position where we already have a superior footballer. All seems a bit odd to me.
Thing is though what did Eggs have to say?
