2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

He can save us a fortune if he keeps playing like that. Very strong and athletic and good ability to beat his man and drive forward. Positional play and discipline can improve and he can be a bit more decisive in his passing at times. He can definitely be a starter for us this season. People have written him off way to quickly because of some poor performances when he was returning from injury and the team had a disfunctional shape.

My biggest gripe with him is his jogging and laidback movement. If he just went for it he'd bully everyone.
He's far from the only one, we really need to work on the intensity levels. The number of times their centre backs ran with the ball into our half was unacceptable.

He was terrier like, getting a foot in and getting possession back. There was danger in the first half where he threw himself in front of a shot. Dropped his shoulder a couple of times in a more advanced position and looked dangerous.

Very encouraging.

For him if he sorts out his mentality and stays confident, he will be A okay. He gets way too lax at times but he needs to keep this mentality that he had today. A little bit of scrap

That’s a function of us playing deep because of lack of pace at the back. It’s not down to intensity. The spaces are just too big to cover because the defence is too deep. Branthewaite’s pace helps us up the pitch. What would we give for another physical beast like Jags at CB.

During the Summer Series he did a Q&A alongside Harrison Armstrong, and it was easy to see why Armstrong has captained the youth sides. He did most of the talking and tried to give thoughtful responses.

Iroegbunam, on the other hand, just seemed happy to be there. He seems like someone with all the tools but no real ambition, content in his role, whatever it may be. His lack of drive is probably what landed him here, but he’s good in his role and capable of more, so let’s hope they find a way to make him hungry.
