2025/26 David Moyes

You know what we are getting I personally is made up he's on board, after looking at west ham tonight they are terrible.,. maybe sometimes can be frustrating arsed me

Reets.

And you followed perfectly, 'Don't let the media use you, you use the media.' Ferguson was a master at it, always knew how to misdirect the maggots busying themselves around his side. Take the pressure off.

Moyes gave a media brief about 8 hours before a significant signing was announced where he said there was nothing happening and we'd keep trying.

He isn't required to tell the truth, or have any sort of standards, or consistency. His duty is to Everton and the players that have signed on with him to do a job. Typing this, I'm wondering if yodavek could be the man himself. Forget 'the usual suspects', we'd need a bigger reveal than that, maybe that 'Rosebud' was the kids sled?
Yeah, I dunno. I reckon he's just a Debbie Downer, he's like this all the time. Always has been. I find it hard to believe it's some sort of master plan.

Whilst Moyes mightn’t be to everyone’s taste, what a s…show it would have been if Graham Potter had taken over the squad we had in January.

To have dodged Potter and 777 in the past 12 months are minor miracles!

They've let 9 players go and brought in 2 free transfers, a left back, and a young keeper.

Can't play Potter-ball with that. So i have sympathy.

I hear you but I can’t believe the Board didn’t know ahead of time that their window was going to be tough and the squad they were giving to Potter wasn’t very well suited to the way he plays.

As for Potter, the ‘project’ he picked next was always going to be a very important decision for him. His star has faded since his Brighton days. At the moment, it looks like he’s made another poor choice.

Thelwell was the club's choice, Purdy they wanted to keep, basically caused a huge vacuum when he left.
I think we need to put this in context. TFG were having conversations with Moyes from October onwards. Moyes was having conversations with all of his old gang including Martin Waldron and James Smith about a possible role in Everton when he took over. Waldron was offered a job as Head of Academy but ulitmately he turned it down. James Smith was happy to return back to Everton and work with Moyes. Moyes made it clear that he wanted the DOF role to go and he wanted a new recruitment structure. TFG agreed to his demands, hence why Thelwell left. They obviously viewed getting Moyes on board as more important than keeping Thelwell. If Moyes hadn't made those demands Thelwell would have been kept on is my understanding.

Regarding Purdy he had previously walked when Brands left because of Benitez so he clearly had some principles. His role under Thelwell was to: Manger scouting opertations, oversee technical scouting systems (eg Databases etc), co-ordinate scouts and analysis staff, lead on player identification shortlists and report directly into Thelwell. Because of James Smith recruitment by Moyes, Purdy was offered a new role, Head of Player Identification which would focus just on finding players and would mean that he was no longer in charge of systems, operational oversight or recruitment strategy and he would report into James Smith instead of being a lead himself. I've given this some thought based on your comments and it doesn't make sense that TFG were surprised that he left. If we look at the above any senior executive would have to consider that there was a risk that Purdy would leave. Maybe they were banking on his club loyalty but as we saw with Benitez the guy has some principles.

Basically theyve brought Ranieri & Moyes in to steady the ships.

Then it seems like Moyes will follow Ranieri into a senior position at the end of his contract.

TFG seem to think the way forward is in the past. I suppose this would be ok as long as Moyes knows who would be the next world class manager, but i suspect he'd be more interested to continue managing himself.
